Essential Info
Achieve the fully automated home of your dreams with this small device! This X10 Powerflash Interface allows almost anything to send X10 signals. The plug-in unit sends an X10 signal to receiver devices when a contact closure is made or low-voltage (6-18V AC, DC or Audio) is applied to its terminals. In Mode 1 it sends an ALL LIGHTS ON signal to the same House Code and a regular ON (to operate appliances) signal to the same Unit Code that the interface is set to. When contacts are opened it sends an OFF to the same Unit Code but leaves the rest of the lights on. In Mode 2 it sends a flashing ALL LIGHTS ON/ALL OFF signal and leaves the lights ON after the contacts are opened. In Mode 3, which is the mode that will be most used for non-security type applications, the interface sends an ON only to the same House and Unit Code. When the contacts are opened it sends an OFF to the same House and Unit Code. Beware of older units and discontinued units (usually labeled Burglar Alarm Interface) sold by some companies, which do not have the Mode 3 features listed here and will not be suitable for many of the projects we describe.

The X10 Powerflash Interface can turn off the vacuum when the doorbell rings and send a signal when the garage door opens. The device sends an X10 signal in response to a motion detector, photocell, magnetic window switch or virtually any device with output. The module can be activated by a low voltage (6-18VDC) or a dry contact (no voltage) switch closure. Once activated the module sends an X10 signal. The Powerflash module becomes deactivated when the low voltage is removed or the dry contact switch is opened.
You can even use the X10 Powerflash Interface as a burglar alarm interface. Simply wire the output from your existing security system to this module and set the module to Mode 2. When your alarm trips, the PowerFlash Module can cause your indoor and outdoor X10 lights to flash, scaring off intruders and making your house easily visible.
For easy addressing, insert an X10 Code Clicker (sold separately) into the dial wheel.
Know when your garage door is open: Attach the Garage Contact Normally Opened or Closed to your garage door in such a way so that the sensor and magnet are together when the garage door is fully closed. Connect the red and black wires from the contacts to a Powerflash Interface and plug the Powerflash Interface into any convenient wall receptacle. Set the Powerflash to Mode 3, Input B and then set the House and Unit Code to the same code as the LampLinc Module, X10 switch or other X10 signaling device you want to use. When your garage door opens, it will turn on your designated light and turn it off again when it closes. Set the Chime Module to the same code and you will also hear a chime when the door opens.
Mode 1: All Lights On, 1 Appliance ON/OFF Mode 2: Flashing All Lights On/Off Mode 3: On/Off For One Unit Code Only
