    I currently have VOIP service at my home with another firm. I was going to be out of state for a period of time for some training and thought it was the perfect opportunity to try out netTALK to stay in touch with my family. BIG MISTAKE. The device arrived very quickly from SmartHome, and after reading the information provided online by netTALK (including the ENDLESS user agreement), I hooked it up. As part of the installation process, a screen came up allowing you to enter a number to see what your "rate" to call it would be. With "Free local and long distance calling to the U.S. and Canada", I thought that was a little silly, but maybe it applied to international calls. Just for laughs, I entered my home number in Florida. I was shocked to learn that I would be limited to 180 minutes of calling to that number. It wasn't clear if this was per month (an average of one 6 minute call per day) or over the life of the 90 day plan (less than 2 minutes per day). According to the information on their site, they considered this to be "typical" calling behavior. When I contacted NetTALK through their website, I received an immediate automated e-mail reply with the message that "One of our agents will get back to you as soon as possible." Despite numerous attempts to get resolution from them, they did not reply or add any information to the "ticket" on their site. Finally, I told them I would be filing a complaint with the State Attorney General's office. The next day, when I arrived home, I found that someone had called and hung up shortly after the call went to voice mail. Later when I checked my e-mail, here is the message that was there from netTALK: " We just wanted to let you know you were just left a 0:03 long voice mail message from "313-355-5249" <3133555249>, on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 06:01:39 PM. You might want to check it when you get a chance. Your audio message is attached. Thanks!" Three seconds of dead air, and they were proud enough of it to brag about it in an e-mail. Decide for yourself if you want to deal with this company.
