Works as described, however the Sharper Image version I used to have used a pushbutton on/off switch that was much easier to use than this unit's slider switch. This unit is peculiar in that if the auto-off feature has activated, the power switch must be turned OFF for about 5 sec before it will turn on again.

I have no idea whether this works or not. As another reviewer wrote, the shoe deodorizer may work marginally. If you have acute shoe odor problems like I had, you may be better off buying anti-fungal show powders in spray cans. I'll have to wait 'til next summer to gauge the deodorizer's true value. But I've also been told to always wear socks with shoes, to avoid just this problem. So maybe I'll never know...
