Extremely easy to install, works as described. Will order more of same again.

I am very impressed with the quality of the Activent. It is very well made. I do not know the long term reliability of the product yet but it is worth to try. The Activent has solved the problem of having my basement freezing cold when upstairs bedrooms were very hot. After installing the Activent I have found out that it works great if I have the furnace ventilation blower running most of the time. I have installed two Activent units in the basement controlled by only one remote control. The location of the remote control is up on the wall very close to one of the vents and senses the air temperature right out of the vent. When the air conditioner runs, to keep the temperature in the bedrooms at a reasonable level of 75F, the Activent senses the low temperature of the air from the air conditioner (around 60F right out of the vent) and closes the vents in the basement. The Activent remote control is set to around 70F. When the air conditioner is not running the furnace ventilation blower circulates the air in the house equalizing the house temperature. Before, in order to achieve 75F in the bedrooms the basement was at 65C. Now when the bedrooms are at 75F the basement is at 72C and the air conditioner runs much less than before. Without the Activent I was pumping cold air in the basement when it was not needed and wasting energy. One small problem I had with the Activent is the range of the remote control. It is less than 10 feet. One of the vents in the basement is 8 feet away from the remote controller and it was erratic picking up the signal. I solved the problem by running a piece of insulated wire from the wireless remote to the vent. Since I have a suspended ceiling in the basement I manage to place the wire just above the ceiling. I coiled the wire at each end. Three or four turns 2 inch coil diameter works OK to pick up the signal from the wireless remote and send the signal to the Activent. It would be nice if Inova can increase the sensitivity of the receiver or increase the power transmitted by the remote control. Overall I am very happy with the results. I bought already two units for me, through Amazon, and now I bought two more units directly from Smarthome for my son.
