How it Works

Unlike other automated drapery systems, this heavy-duty motorized drape controller offers whisper-quiet operation and a non-invasive installation process -- it does not require cutting your drape cord! Simply thread your drapery cord through the unit's unique drive pulley system and your draperies will smoothly traverse at the touch of a button. The controller can reverse direction from any point, has three adjustable load settings and automatically stops at fully open or closed positions.

Variety of Add-On Options Available

The Whisper-Quiet Motorized Drape Controller pulls up to 75 lbs. of fabric weight and features a low-voltage push-button switch. It can also be connected to your X10 system through a Universal Module, which connects via the X10 interface cable. Additional add-ons include the Replacement Tire Set, for use if the controller's wheels ever start to wear out.

The first unit I received was noisy. Smarthome kindly replaced it with another unit(same model)that is a little quieter than the first one. It was very easy to install and we are enjoying it very much. I do think whisper quiet is a bit misleading.

THE STAR RATING FOR THE UNIT IS GOOD, BUT ON THE OTHERHAND, THE VENDOR OF THE CONTROLER GETS A "-2" FOR THE TIME IT TOOK TO RECEIVE THE CONTROLER. IF THER WAS ANOTHER UNIT OUT THERE THAT COULD DO THE SAME AS THIS ONE AND GET IT TO ME FASTER, I WOULD GO FOR THE OTHER CONTROLER. SOMETIMES THE COST DOES NOT COUNT AS MUCH AS THE SERVICE....

Not whisper quiet, but quiet enough. Unit is larger than anticipated but very heavy duty. Unit is extremely easy to install and adjust. I was able to install four units in about 20 minutes. An x10 ability built in would be an improvement. Also, although unit is auto stop on open and close, I wish the stop point could be set by user. Even on lowest tension setting, drapes tend to stack tight. Motors are very strong, I'm pulling 9' by 12' drapes easily on the lowest tension setting. Purchasing the x10 option is highly recommended.

Have used this system for 5 years with two drapery units on one control module. Works great! Had some original problem with the installation because the Smarthome wiring information did not match the drapery units. Hopefully that has been corrected. Take care to do a good drapery install job, and try to keep the curtain/carpet dragging to a minimum. That will allow for a low switch setting which reduces the force exerted on the drive system

Good drape motor overall. I used this one on a 9ft tall x 11ft wide velour and it works like a champ. I think the electronic non-programmable limits are a limitation (i.e., you cannot tell it to stop opening at the edges of a screen, it has to open all the way or you would have to send a timed command again to activate and stop it). Also, without limits, it seems to put unneccesary stress on the rod mechanism at all the way open and all the way closed.

I have tried two other types of drape motors that were less expensive than the Somfy product but they do not compare. This is the best for price/performance I have seen. Now own 10 and will be buying 9 more.
