Essential Info
Bridging the gap between home automation and audio video components usually requires the purchase and advanced installation of expensive control system hardware and controllers. The EZUIRT Universal IR/INSTEON Transceiver # 5010H by SimpleHomeNet is an affordable plug-in solution that will allow communication between devices on an INSTEON and/or X10 network with audio video components. The EZUIRT recognizes the codes sent out via IR remote control and translates them into INSTEON commands. This allows you to control INSTEON-compatible devices (lighting, fans, appliances and HVAC) or scenes with the same remote used for your entertainment equipment (Television, CD player, DVD player and stereo). EZUIRT is also an IR sender, which will convert INSTEON and/or X10 commands to IR codes that your A/V equipment can readily understand. With the press of a single button from your INSTEON-compatible device, you can create a scene that will turn on your air conditioner, cable/satellite receiver, television, stereo, fireplace, and dim the lights. While all the basic functions can be programmed manually, there are advanced programming options that you can achieve with the EZSrve, central automation controller. If you already have a central automation controller or a software package for your INSTEON network that doesn't have the correct parameters to program the advanced functionality of this device, you can download the free Simplehomenet Utility Suite which works in conjunction with an INSTEON Powerlinc Controller. (Note: The Simplehomenet Utility does not interface with the INSTEON Powerlinc Modem.)

Infrared The EZUIRT Universal IR/INSTEON Transceiver easily learns IR codes in any combination, and converts them into INSTEON commands. Supported IR codes include X10 IR codes, NEC IR codes, RC5 IR codes, Sony IR codes and X10 house IR codes. The unit has a built-in IR sensor and functions as an IR distribution hub with four jacks for up to eight emitters, not included.
Setup EZUIRT is installed simply by plugging the unit into an available outlet. Setup and programming is facilitated with the free configuration utility software, and a Quick start guide is also available. This program runs under MS-Windows and allows connection with a PLC, or EZSrve, allowing for verification of INSTEON EZUIRT communications, changes or additions to the codes received and commands sent, and the management of the INSTEON links database.
