Overview

  • Stores timers to trigger scheduled INSTEON/X10 events without requiring a PC to be left on
  • Quick and easy installation requires only two cable connections
  • Free Windows-based utility provides easy operation and setup

Essential Info

The EZBridge conveniently puts control and monitoring of INSTEON devices on a network, allowing you access to your home automation system from anywhere with an Internet connection. You can check if you forgot to turn off lights and appliances at home from the office PC or from an Internet café while vacationing in Hawaii. In addition, timers can be loaded on the device, so you can schedule INSTEON/X10 events - turning lights ON and OFF at sunset and sunrise or having the coffee maker start when you wake up in the morning - without requiring a PC to be left on.

What's Included

  • EZBridge INSTEON/X10 to IP bridge
  • 2 RJ45 cables
  • Quickstart Guide
  • More Info

Running off the power from the power line modem (PLM, sold separately), the INSTEON IP Bridge can also be powered by a DC adapter (not included) and sits between the PLM and your DHCP server. If a DHCP is not available, the device can also be set up with a static IP address. With full access to the functions of the PLM -- including INSTEON/X10 messaging and links database management - from anywhere you have access to the network, the device handles all the INSTEON messaging through XML files that are easy to set up and understand.

    Easy to Install and Use
Using the included RJ45 cables, the device easily and quickly installs with a few simple cable connections. A quick guide is included to walk you through installation and setup.

    Timers
Load timers onto the EZBridge with the free application utility. As long as it is powered, the device will maintain the timers and trigger events for specific times of the day on particular days of the week without further intervention by the application.

    Software
While the free configuration utility (Windows-only) can be used to set-up and operate the device, the EZBridge realizes its full potential working in conjunction with home automation programs.

    Reviews

"I've been using the EZBridge for 6 months now and it does the job I need it to (control X10 devices). However, it appears that SimpleHomeNet (the company that makes the EZBridge) is very much in its infancy and still working out a lot of processes involved with manufacturing and supporting a device like this. They are continuing to work on the firmware for the EZBridge and plan on releasing a web server update at some point. Being a firmware developer myself, I've written custom perl scripts to communicate with the EZBridge, but it's a challenge with this device due to sometimes subpar documentation." - Ryan Hoagland - Santa Clara, CA
