Essential Info

Make sure your lawn and garden plants are watered with a programmable timed sprinkler system that can be set up on your PC and controlled with any INSTEON or X10 controller. The INSTEON/X10 8-Zone Sprinkler Controller is an 8-zone irrigation unit capable of controlling up to eight sprinkler valves either individually or in program sequences in response to single INSTEON or X10 command from your PC or a standalone home automation controller. This irrigation controller will work with any standard 24V AC sprinkler system (sold separately), and a free software download is available for easy programming. The Controller requires a 24V AC transformer (sold separately) to power the sprinkler solenoid valves.

While basic functions can be programmed manually, advanced functionality can be programmed with the EZSrve, central automation controller. If you already have a central automation controller or a software package for your INSTEON network that doesn't have the correct parameters to program the advanced functionality of this device, you can download the free Simplehomenet Utility Suite which works in conjunction with an INSTEON Powerlinc Modem (2412U, 2413U or 2413S). If you need PC-free operation for simple timers, the SHN Utility Suite also interfaces with the INSTEON Powerlinc Controller.

Note: The EZSrve, central automation controller or a PowerLinc Controller - INSTEON USB Interface is needed for the timer programming.

Flexible Programming Options

A very effective "smart" replacement for the old rain bird I had been using, particularly with a computer based control program such as Indigo which allows graphical representations of the yard and which zones are running. There are two reasons that it did not get 5 stars, however; The synchronization methodology is a bit tricky, and the first time I set it up, it inadverdantly (and silently) picked up an X10 address in the line noize, and 3 weeks later triggered a zone (with no indication on the computer). I had to play with sending house codes to confirm this, then factory reset and resynchronize to eliminate it. The other thing is common to most sprinkler systems; while they do allow a "Master Valve/irrigation pump" scenario, they do not allow me the option to run more than one zone at a time in order to keep the irrigation pump loaded enough to prevent it from cycling on pressure.

Seemed to link up just fine with my ISY99 controller. I did have to download the SimpleHomeNet utility, and connect a serial cable to my PowerLinc modem so that I could update the configuration to convert zone 8 to a pump. (So, now zone 8 comes on when ANY zone comes on, to drive my pump) This was for well water, I might add.

Love the product, although I find it frustrating with the customer service with the company that supports it. At the sametime it would be nice if I could modify the settings of it without purchasing another expensive device to modify it.

My TORO controller stopped working. I could spend some $50+ to replace it with a similar one from the local hardware store, OR spend twice that for this from Smarthome. And I am glad I ordered this. I had an outlet in my pump house near all the control wires, so connections were easy. I was also pleased that there were no communication issues with my ISY controller, since the pump house is separated from the house. Programming the sprinkler routines that replicated the TORO in the ISY was also a breeze. The 24V power transformer from my TORO also worked just fine with this device.

Due to a lack of programs to remotely control the EZFlora Irrigation controller from the 2412N INSTEON contoller I have not had a chance to use this yet.

Very easy to install. I use Indigo software to setup and control all my Insteon products. The EzFlora works extremely well with Indigo which I have paired up with Indigo Touch allowing me to control and test each zone on my iPhone while in my yard. Saving me from having to run back and forth to to controller. Wish I bought this when it first came out.

extremely annoyed this product did not come with the required powersupply. 2 trips to landscaping stores yielded no results nor did home depot or lowes. Finally after hours of searching on the web I found and ordered the 24volt power supply. For the price this should be included or the customer should be warned.
