Overview

  • To be used with Aquadue Duplo Water Timer Only (#3107)
  • Automatic timer shut-off
  • Accurate rain measurement

Essential Info

Avoid unnecessary wastage of water by turning off sprinklers when raining. The system will shut down when the internal flow reaches a total level of 2 oz. Programming will resume when the water evaporates. To connect, simply remove the front panel of the Duplo water timer by pressing the 2 side buttons and slide the connector onto the far left prongs. Supplied with a stainless steel wall bracket, install the sensor in a clear area up to a distance of 6’ from water timer without any type of vegetation coverage and away from sprinklers. It is important to keep the orange over in place to keep out leaves and/or impurities that could impair operation. The unit is designed to operate with the #3107 Duplo 2-line water timer only and is sold separately.

This sensor is amazing! Does not allow the Water Timer to operate after or during a rain storm. Saves on watering cost. A must to have along with the timer. Both items worth the price.

This is no more than a well encased magnetic switch with a magnet in a float to activate the switch. Unfortunately, if the valve is "pulse controlled" as those in the timers I have are, then this sensor might not allow the pulse which turns off the water to actuate. An example of this is that I installed the sensor near the sprinkler in the hope that if there was some rain prior to the sprinkler coming on the sprinkler would shut off when the soaking was complete. However the magnetic switch opened when the water reached the proper level and the sprinkler continued to water the lawn until I noticed that it hadn't turned off several hours after it was supposed to(no saving water that time). If your timer will shut off the water when the sensor circuit opens then this will work as expected. If a polarity change in your timer opens and closes the valve then this device could be modified with a diode to perform as expected. However if a pulse of the same polarity opens and closes the valve this is not what you want.

The thing is that the duplo water timer only checks in with the rain sensor before it begins its watering cycle. Once the cycle starts the rain sensor has no effect until the next cycle. I won't stop the water flow in the middle of a cycle. Also, I've noticed that it takes longer than I would like for the water to evaporate from the unit and restart the timer. Seems to be 2-3 days after a rainfall, depending on the humidity and sun exposure.
