Overview
|
- Six independent zones
- For use with standard or heat-pump HVAC systems
- Controller programmed through any connected Wall Display Unit
Essential Info
Divide your central air/heat system into up to six different zones for independent temperatures in various areas of your home. The HVAC 6-Zone Controller uses Wall Display Units (sold separately) in lieu of traditional thermostats; programming is also done on the on-screen display of a Wall Display Unit connected to the HVAC 6-Zone Controller via 4-wire cable, which can be existing thermostat wires in retrofit applications or cat. 5 wiring in new construction. The HVAC 6-Zone Controller requires 24VAC power, supplied by an external transformer (sold separately).

More Info

The HVAC 6-Zone Controller connects to the HVAC system at its standard thermostat connections. Electrically, it functions just like a regular thermostat providing thermostatic control of each zone and sending the appropriate heating and cooling signals to the HVAC mechanical system. The HVAC 6-Zone Controller is compatible with both standard gas/electric and heat pump systems.
Each zone is fully independent and can be set to any set point or mode. Mixed modes are also possible, so that one zone can be heating while another may be cooling. Heat or air will come on automatically when the zone's temperature is off from the set point by one degree. Motorized normally open zone dampers (sold separately) control the flow of air to each zone, and the system even has an automatic fresh-air ventilation function to distribute outside air into your home to prevent the inside air from becoming stale.
The HVAC 6-Zone Controller has an RS485 serial communications port so that it can send and receive data and commands by serial communications to allow remote control of the system. Commands including requesting status of zone temperature, heating/cooling mode and fan mode as well as setting any zone set point or mode. The RS485 communications port supports the RCS CommStar network protocol.
If you don't need a Wall Display Unit in a particular zone, you can install a remote temperature sensor instead. This unit will trigger the same heating and cooling response for the zone, but no manual control or programming will be able to be performed from that particular zone. An LCD Wall Display Unit is also available for programming and control of a single individual zone. Either of these wall display units can also show outside temperature information from a sensor attached to the ZCV Outside Temp Sensor Input or from outside temperature data received from the network. Sensors are sold separately.
If you don't need control over 6 zones, a 4-zone controller is also available.
