Essential Info

As energy costs rise, it is important to find different solutions that help conserve energy and keep your heating and cooling expenses to a minimum. Because heaters and air conditioners are the largest energy consumers in homes today, one way to start reducing the use of energy is to install electronic air duct dampers. The Suncourt Zonemaster is a 6-Inch Diameter Normally Open Electronic HVAC Air Duct Damper with Power Supply that allows you to shut off airflow to unoccupied or unused rooms, which limits the flow of heated or cooled air to the areas that really need it. The airflow changes the temperature in the occupied areas faster than conventional air ducts, providing shorter run times for your heating and/or cooling system, allowing you to use less energy and save money. By adding one or more dampers you can create zones throughout your home that can be electronically controlled. A 24 Volt hardwired power supply is included that can be used to connect with an HVAC zone controller and a multi-zone thermostat.

  • 6-Inch Diameter Normally Open Electronic HVAC Air Duct Damper

    Multi-Zone Control
Enjoy having complete electronic control of which rooms your HVAC system heats or cools by using dampers in conjunction with one of the following RCS HVAC air duct zone controllers and a multi-zone thermostat:
  • 2-Zone Controller
  • 4-Zone Controller

    Single Zone Control with INSTEON
This electronic damper also offers the flexibility of being controlled from your INSTEON network by connecting a plug-in 24V AC power supply to the damper and plugging it into an ApplianceLinc. Once that connection has been made the damper can then be operated from any INSTEON controller, such as a KeypadLinc, SwitchLinc or RemoteLinc; all items sold separately.

For wiring between the damper and zone controller, damper and power supply, or zone controller and power supply, simply run 2-conductor wire between them. 18-gauge or 22-gauge wire is recommended.

    Normally-Open or Normally-Closed Models
When no power is supplied to the Normally Closed unit, the damper will be closed. When no power is supplied to the Normally Open unit, the damper will be open.

Fast shipping at a great price. Have been having problems for years with the lack of AC flow upstairs. Installed the dampers and the wife is happy now.
    Steve M -- westfield, WI   3/20/2013
I installed 16 of these in my home in 2011, zoning the HVAC between two floors. They work fine although I do have one complaint. There is a metal spring that returns the damper to the open position after power is removed. When the unit is powered and that spring extends, there is a tinking sound that comes from each damper lasting several seconds. It's not horrible, just annoying.
    JOSEPH -- pipersville, PA   11/24/2011
Damper is well constructed and is working well. But, the supplied transformer is of poor quality.
    JULIE -- martinsville, IN   11/18/2011
FANTASTIC customer service. We stupidly bought the 5-inch (measured from inside the room, rather than going up in the attic). This company sent me a shipping label and an RMA to make things as easy as possible. Then refunded the entire amount. Very rare these days....
    RAN -- canton, CT   12/18/2010
    Good functioning Easy to install
    Aleksey -- burlington, Vermont   9/26/2010
Worked OK for last heating season system of 11 dampers in 6-zone heating. Today, while checking it up for next season, I have found one out of eleven not working. After quick troubleshooting it turned out the motor got fired had not enough strength to go against returning spring. The manufacturer of these dampers advertises 3 years of warranty. I'll try to convince them to send me just the motor, since I have no will to rip off entire damper from the system - too much mess. But motor can be easily replaced two screws. Overall these dampers works OK, easy to install, but there are some cons though: 1. They are noisy on opening spring return. The sound can be heard in each heating room as it comes from the duct. 2. They got very hot when are sustained closed. If I built my HVAC system again I would choose spring-less dampers 3 wires. They cost more but are supposed to be more reliable.
    Julia Truchsess -- Connecticut   9/8/2010
Worked OK for three months then stopped. Now it's past SmartHome's return policy date and I'm out the cost of a replacement. The motor spins but the valve doesn't move - something is slipping in the internal gearbox. While it worked it was alright - quiet and smooth. Design would be better if there was an easy way to adjust the fully-open and fully-closed positions.
    ANGEL -- bayamon, PR   9/8/2010
everything is perfect. thanks from puerto rico
    CARL -- sherwood, WI   9/23/2009
What we thought we ordered was what we received. Very good pricing and delivered in a timely manor. Ordered three of these for fresh air intake only when furnace is running. These will stop from coming in when the furnace is not running.
    RANDY -- arvada, CO   1/21/2009
does what is says it is suppose to do and does it quietly
    ROBERT -- erie, PA   1/19/2009
I connected these to an Aprilaire zone controller, 3 thermostats, and X10 modules. The system works great and cut my heating bill almost in half. I was worried these dampers were going to be loud, but I was happy to find out they are pretty quiet.
    EDWARD -- princeton, NJ   8/16/2008
couldn't get the + to work but 00 always did so I'm happy.
    MICHAEL -- flagstaff, AZ   1/21/2008
The material was complete, undamaged and as described. The dampers installed in my ductwork easily and work perfectly. I was surprised by the low price and have recommended them to a friend. I used Hunter Fan model 44860 thermostats to complete a zone heating system that worked the first time.
    MATTHEW -- gainesville, FL   8/9/2007
Works great. Easy to install and setup with the RCS 4-zone controller.
