Essential Info
Increase the functionality of your Venstar thermostat by adding Venstar Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Remote Temperature Sensor. This sensor allows you to monitor the temperature in an additional spot on your property. It can be mounted on the interior or exterior of your home for an accurate temperature reading. The sensor is battery powered and transmits a wireless signal back to a Venstar Wireless Sensor Receiver, required and sold separately, so no professional installation or wiring is necessary. It can be used to report the outdoor temperature when using a compatible residential thermostat, report the temperature of a room, or to report the temperature in a space that is different from where a compatible thermostat is located. The temperature sensor and sensor receiver will work with Venstar 1-Day Programmable Digital Thermostat, 7-day Programmable Digital Thermostat and 7-Day Programmable Thermostat, Dual Fuel. This product requires the use of two AA batteries, included.

Applications To report the outdoor temperature when using a compatible residential thermostat. It is recommended to attach the Wireless Sensor to a north facing wall where it will not be in direct sunlight or the spray of sprinklers. If the Outdoor Sensor is mounted on a rough surface, it is recommended that silicon rubber sealant be used around the entire edge of the mounting plate. If mounting on an electrical junction box, be sure the seal between the junction box and sensor mounting plate is tight. To report the temperature of a room, such as that of a baby’s room when using a compatible residential thermostat. To report the temperature in a space that is different from where a compatible thermostat is located.
Transmitting Intervals Every 10 Seconds - This setting is most useful for Indoor Remote Sensor applications where fast response is needed. Every 2 Minutes - This setting is used for Indoor Remote Sensor applications where a moderately fast response is needed. Every 5 Minutes - This setting is also used for Indoor Remote Sensor applications under normal circumstances. At this setting battery life expectancy is approximately 3 years. Every 10 Minutes - This setting is used for Outdoor Temperature reading. With this setting battery life expectancy is at its longest.
The Wireless Temperature Sensor Requires a Wireless Sensor Receiver The Venstar Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Remote Temperature Sensor requires the use of a Venstar Wireless Sensor Receiver to communicate back to a compatible Venstar thermostat; receiver and thermostat sold separately. Up to eight Wireless Temperature Sensors may be used with one Receiver. The Receiver automatically averages the temperatures from up to eight Wireless Temperature Sensors on the same House Code and reports that average to the thermostat. The Receiver will only ‘listen’ to Wireless Sensors with the same House Code as the Receiver, and will ‘ignore’ sensors with different House Codes than the Receiver. If more than one Wireless Sensor is used with one Receiver, then all Sensors and the Receiver must have the same House Code for proper operation. If more than one Wireless Sensor is used with one Receiver, then each Sensor must have a different Unit ID.
Suggested USes for Multiple Wireless Remote Sensors To control to the average of multiple Wireless Sensors in a large open space using a compatible Commercial thermostat. This type of application would include large, open office areas.
