Overview
|
- Simplify installation by running signals on longer cable runs, without amplifiers
- Save cash by daisy chaining devices instead of home running them
- Unlike X10, RS-485 signals won't be diminished by electrical noise
Essential Info
Extend the power and scope of your home control system using the most reliable, economic and easy to install dedicated transmission line available! This 8-port expansion hub uses the RS-485 protocol. You'll also save big bucks by reducing the amount of wiring used, since devices connected to the RS-485 line can be daisy chained, instead of home run.

More Info
|
The hub is designed to be wired between any RS-485 or PC-compatible home control system (like the Stargate, TimeCommander Plus, etc.) and the peripheral devices it controls (i.e. LCD keypads, thermostats, display panels, etc.). And because the hub has its own dedicated 12V power supply, it can easily transmit signals and power to the peripheral devices. For example, if your home control system supplies 100 milliamps, and you want to run three 50-milliamp devices, you'll have to augment your system with additional amplifiers and/or repeaters. With the RS-485 Expansion Hub, you can power up to 8 peripherals directly, without additional equipment! Each channel has a separate RS-485 driver, which can transmit signals along 4,000 ft. of cable on each channel. Other features include 2-wire half-duplex operation, 4-wire screw terminal strips (2 power, 2 data) and 16-device configuration. An RS-232 version is also available.
