Essential Info

ecobee's motto is "Green Made Easy" - this thermostat lives up to both those goals. It saves money by programming your heating/cooling system to keep you comfortable, not frosty cold or baking, when you are most likely to be relaxing. Program it to match your family's schedule - when you are active, you don't need as much heating or cooling, and you should program a lower temperature at night when the blankets keep your family warm. Every programmable thermostat can do those things for you, but the ecobee is very easy to program and it connects to the internet, so it can display weather reports, as well as allow control from any browser. The ecobee Smart Thermostat uses ZigBee technology for its WiFi connection.

There's a Quick Save button on the touchscreen, which instantly sets the system into energy conservation mode. One press as you leave your home and the AC sets to a higher temp, and the heat is set to a lower temp, than the normal program calls for. Press the OK button when you return and it's back to your programmed settings. For even more control over your system, add remote temperature or humidity sensors connected to the ecobee Remote Sensor Module. Each module can accept up to 4 sensors and if your home is truly huge, consider the ecobee Energy Management System.

    I love this product and the ability to access my thermostat from anywhere! Installation isn't too difficult, but when ordering, be sure you have a 24v lead from your furnace. If not, be sure to order the ecobee power supply. This product is wifi, so it works completely independent of any home automation software/equipment. Great product! My only very minor complaint is that the LED touchscreen on the thermostat is a lower resolution screen, but it still does the trick. Overall, I'd recommend this thermostat to everyone who appreciates a little more control, loves gadgets, enjoys tracking reports, etc.

    The unit was easy to install with my setup. I'm just using it for dual stage heat for now. Ive already bought and installed the Remote Sensor Module and planning to add more sensors. Also planning to add A/C and get a new humidifier. Those don't look hard to add in to the system too. At first I wasn't sure where I was going to get my 24v but I noticed in my furnace it already had a 110v to 24v transformer. I just tapped off of it and ran two new wires over to the base station. Since its not winter I can't really test out the heat funtion for very long but its running the continious fan 24/7. The WIFI works nice with my phone and no problems setting it up either. Overall I'm pleased with the unit and would recommend to others.

    This is exactly what I have been looking for. It's easy to program, easy to understand, and it works exactly how I expected. Being able to start the cool down an hour before leaving for home makes the house comfortable when we get home. I highly recommend the Ecobee thermostat.

    Does exactly what they claim. Only downside I see is that it doesn't have a built in web interface, and relies on their servers. hopefully they remain in business a good long time.

    Awsome product, I expect it to save me money soon after install, install was very quick and easy web set up, so easy it was silly. After install it was easier to set up than a wireless printer. I wired this product myself with ease, the wiring diagrams are easy to read and understand. The smart phone app, I use an Android system, works great I can turn on heat or cool from anywhere with ease provided that my home internet is working. If my home internet is not working the ecobee falls back to its programing I set. I was really amazed at the response time when I used my android or laptop to change my settings, it was almost like your there. I travel alot for a living and forgeting to turn your air on or off can make a big difference to your light bill. Or if your away and there are freezing conditions in your area, this product can really save your ass.

    Using Smarthome's price match policy, I purchased three Ecobee EB-STAT-02 thermostats last month and placed them in two homes. Installation for two of them was very easy for single stage heating/cooling systems. The third was much more difficult for a three-stage heat pump/auxiliary heat setup but the Ecobee support staff was great! They and I traded e-mails, photos, and several phone calls to get the job done correctly within a few hours. Once installed, WiFi connection, Internet interface, programming options including fan run times beyond that of the compressor, option to match thermostat settings for customized groups, and reports on the Web server are nothing short of phenomenal! The only option I would like to see is one to turn the screen brightness off at night for the one in the bedroom and leave it on during the day. If you are in the market for the latest technology, you won't regret this purchase.

    ECOBEE is the best thermostat I ever owned. Not only do they have a personal website to control it which works on any computer or ipad, but they have an iphone or ipad touch free app that looks exactly like the full color thermostat touch screen and lets you control it from anywhere. This unit will email you on sudden temp changes, and even do things for you. For example it emailed my service company and scheduled an appointment when there was an issue. It even updates its own firmware and emails me that it did. When the room got too cold it automatically turned on the heat to save pipes from freezing. The only negative is that is does not work with Insteon stuff to expand itself.
