What is ICON?ICON by SmartLabs Design is our value-oriented line of lighting and appliance control products utilizing INSTEON technology. ICON products have several of the same features as our regular products without the added cost. ICON is another great addition to the Smarthome family of products. ICON Appliance Module — Our Most Economical Remote-Controllable Plug-In On/Off SwitchFill your entire home with personalized mood lighting for any occasion. The ICON Appliance Module is a full-featured plug-in on/off switch that can be remotely controlled by a ControLinc tabletop controller, KeypadLinc, or any other INSTEON controller. This simple-to-use plug-in on/off switch has cool features like local control, so you can still use the appliance's built-in switch to turn device on and off. The ICON Appliance Module is made to plug into a 3-pin outlet. This on/off switch controls all standard appliances like fans, fluorescent lights, and many other non-dimmable devices up to 10 amps and incandescent lights up to 400 watts. If you need to control a dimmable lamp, try the ICON Lamp Dimmer, the LampLinc 2-Pin, or the grounded LampLinc 3-Pin, which allow on/off and brightness control. Never come home to a dark house again: Install HouseLinc 2 - INSTEON Desktop Software w/ USB Interface on your PC to schedule any ICON Appliance Module or any other INSTEON-compatible device to turn on or off at any specific time or even at sunrise and sunset. Note: If you are using LED lights that are very low wattage, you may notice that the LED's do not turn out completely when plugged into this device. Easy To InstallThe ICON Appliance Module is easy to install and set up and yet so affordable, you'll want to add ICON on/off modules to all of your appliances that you want to control remotely. Just unplug the appliance and plug it into the bottom outlet of the ICON Appliance On/Off Module, and then plug the module back into the outlet. Link the ICON Appliance Module to an INSTEON controller using the Plug & Tap programming method, and you'll be able to turn the appliance on and off from any linked INSTEON-compatible controller. If this is your first INSTEON installation, the best way to ensure you get everything needed to provide the most reliable communication among devices is to buy the complete Plug-In Dimmer INSTEON Starter Kit, which includes everything required to set up your INSTEON network, including two LampLinc Dimmers, a pair of Access Points to ensure INSTEON network reliability, and the desktop ControLinc. Create Multi-Way CircuitsThe ICON Appliance Module allows you to customize your lighting setup no matter how your house is wired. It's simple to create a 3-, 4-, or 5-way controlled appliance. Plug the device you want to include in the circuit into the ICON Appliance On/Off Module, then plug the module into an open outlet. Link the ICON Appliance Module to all the INSTEON-compatible wall switches and Tabletop Controllers that you want to control the ICON on/off module for a flexible, fully functional multi-way controlled appliance.
Scene Lighting Scenes allow you to control multiple lights, rooms or even the whole home with a single command. Because the ICON Appliance Module can be a member of up to 30 scenes (i.e. "Movie Time," "Party," "Romance," etc.), you'll be able to launch various lighting scenarios with a single button press on an INSTEON controller. All member lights and appliances can turn on or off instantly, all controlled with one command from one button. If you want to control multiple scenes from a wall-mount controller, try the KeypadLinc Dimmer.
Status LEDGet a visual indication when ICON Appliance Module is sending or receiving INSTEON or X10 signals. The Status LED is also used for setup programming.
CompatibilityThe ICON Appliance Module is fully INSTEON compatible and X10 ready. Homeowners with existing X10 networks can easily migrate to an INSTEON network without having to discard all their existing X10 devices. X10 ready means that it can respond to X10 commands from an X10 controller. Please note that INSTEON devices repeat INSTEON signals but not X10. The ICON Appliance Module is not X10 scene compatible.
Non-Volatile MemoryAll ICON Appliance Module settings are stored in non-volatile memory and are not lost during power failures. Please note however that the device being controlled WILL NOT come back on automatically. To turn the device back on you must do one of the following;
A) Press the Set button on the Appliance Module
B) Send and On command from a controller
C) Un-plug the device, then plug it back into the Appliance Module while the Appliance Module is still plugged into the wall outlet
D) Turn the device’s switch off, then on
