  • Installation can be done by practically anyone, using common hand tools

Essential Info

Unless your house was custom built specifically for you, chances are there's at least one built-in light that you wish you could control from two locations. Well now you can, with the Wireless Three-Way Light Switch, an easy, do-it-yourself solution that can be installed without adding any new wiring! Set it up and in just minutes you'll be able to do things like control the light in your basement without having to climb down that narrow flight of stairs. Or eliminate annoying TV glare without missing a second of the game by turning off the ceiling light from a switch within reach of your easy chair. Or turn off the light in the detached garage, without having to step outside.

What's Included

  • One Wall Switch Receiver
  • Wall Switch Transmitter
  • Mounting Screws
  • 12V battery
  • More Info

The Wireless Three-Way Light Switch is easy to install. The wall switch receiver replaces the light's original wall switch. The wireless wall switch transmitter, which sends RF signals to the wall switch receiver, can be mounted on any desired wall location using the included screws. Once it's all set up, you'll be able to control the lights from either switch.

Want to use multiple units in the same house? No problem! Each switch can operate on one of four distinct channels. The system works with built-in incandescent lights up to 350 watts. Not for use with existing three-way circuits or fluorescent lights.

It's a good thing I ordered two of them as one only lasted three weeks before remote would not shut the light off [it would turn it on]. We will see how long second one lasts. Reliability issues.
    ANDREW -- cincinnati, OH   12/22/2012
i purchased this to replace an older version (about 8 years old) of the same product. older one gave out after a light bulb burned out for some reason. anyway, new unit only worked within 10 feet of the switch and i needed it to work about 14 feet away. unit also ran very hot compared to the old one. i saw this as a fire hazard and of poor quality. i decided to hardwire the switch and quit having to mess around with wireless gadgets that don't always work.

CAUTION!! This product has quality control problems - just look a the funky solder on the circuit board. My unit works 2 out of 5 times - I tried different frequency settings moving the jumpers but still got the same sub par performance. The switches are only 16 feet apart. The 50 foot transmitting distance claim is a massive joke - just read some of these reviews.
    JEFFREY -- columbia, MD   5/14/2012
Works well when there is a need for a remote switch to turn on a light. It gets a little dicey if the transmitter is a distance from the receiver. Would certainly recommend this product
    JEREMY -- baltimore, MD   3/25/2012
don't waste your money, I should have read the reviews. Didn't work where I wanted it to, then installed it somewhere else and 3 days later broke. Find something else
    ALLAN -- tampa, FL   1/12/2012
I installed it at two ends of a room about 20 feet apart. The switch did not have the range for that distance. It did work about half way across.
Ace Hunter -- spokane, WA   12/8/2011
Very poor product, works about 25% of the time, replaced it with another brand that works.
    VIRGIL -- clive, IA   4/30/2011
    remote button did not work
JUDITH ANN -- ivins, UT   4/23/2011
    It works very well.
    MICHAEL -- corvallis, OR   4/3/2011
Don't like small rocker switch, hard to use. Would prefer flip (up/down) switch like regular light switch. I was told by Smarthome staff that the both switches would fit in their own electrical box; this was not true, only the hard wired switch fits in an electrical box the wireless switch must be surface mounted. I did not realize that these switches can only be used with incandescent light bulbs and will not work for compact fluorescents.
    MICHAEL -- amherst, NY   3/25/2011
It mostly works. I had to spend a lot of time pulling out the old metal wall box to replace with a plastic "remodel" box to get it to work at all. The instructions said to ground it to the metal box but that didn't work. even now, about every 10 - 12 uses I have to hold down the remote button for about 5 seconds before it will turn the light On or off. The powered section is at the top of a single flight of stairs. The remote is attached to the wall at the bottom. Maybe this is because I have old Plaster walls so it's basically trying to transmit through rock. I guess having to hold it down is better than having to walk up/down in the dark.
    PETER -- indianapolis, IN   3/19/2011
Doesn't work! Cheaply made. Ordered three of them, but couldn't get any of them to work.
    NESTOR -- hudson, FL   2/26/2011
Will not work with Fluorescent lighting
    JOHN -- fredericksburg, VA   2/24/2011
My first switch did not work, but Smarthome was very good about sending me another. The replacement switch, which is for a detached garage, worked great till I secured it in the outlet box. I live in a brick house and apparently the signal cannot penetrate brick from more than five feet away. I mounted the switch outside the outlet box and now the switch works great (but looks crappy).
    john -- virginia   2/7/2011
Purchased two. One did not work at all, even after methodical troubleshooting. The other seems to work fine for my detached garage. Transmitter switch is about 20' from receiver. Appears to be a great solution. It would be nice if Carlon would sell extra transmitters so receiver could be controlled from even more locations.
    KIM M. -- eden prairie, MN   1/17/2011
Works great, excellent delivery, I would purchase from seller again.
KEVIN -- hyde park, NY   10/21/2010
    Works as advertised!
    TIMOTHY -- woburn, MA   10/8/2010
Works but only about 18 feet not 50.
    JOHN -- hamilton, ON   9/16/2010
The wired switch works just fine, but the wireless switch only works one time out of five or so. Also randomly turns off, which seems to be due to interference from other wireless signals.
