Essential Info

The First Alert Screw-In Motion Sensing Light Socket screws easily into an existing household light socket. Patented motion sensing technology automatically turns the light on when entering and off when exiting the room. It senses movement in all directions making it ideal for laundry rooms, basements, walk-in closets and garages. It is compatible with compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and incandescent light bulbs.

    Works great in laundry room where we enter with our hands full of clothing to be washed. Also very handy in basement lights where there was a pull string. Now very little movement allows us to see if the floor is damp/wet without using a flashlight because the pull string was too dangerous to use.

    We installed it in the ceiling of our stairway going down to the basement. It doesn't work during the day (too much light from the upstairs room?) but works fine at night. Will have to buy something else that works during the day light hours too.

    Great product. The timeout is 4 minutes. I like this better than the other products that timeout at 10 minutes. Great for use in basements. Now I only turn on the lights I need not every light in my basement when I walk through to the garage.

    This item works quite well, but in the areas I am using them (service areas of a NYC apartment building), the ceilings are high, and there are several entrances. Because the sensor field is not symetrical, sometimes the sensor doesn't "see" that someone is there until they are well into the space.

    A great product, price and service. We use this in our laundry room, turning on the overhead light just as someone walks into the room. This saves someone carrying a basket of clothes the inconvenience of trying to hold the basket while fumbling for the wall switch. We love it.

    These work better than expected. Our basement is divided into 5 sections now as you move from one to another they turn on and stay on as long as you are in that area. One area is at an outdoor sliding door and unless you open it, it does not trigger. GREAT Product...

    Great product. I use one in the laundry room so I don't have to try to find the pull chain while carrying a basket of clothes. The other is in the garage because the light on the operator quit working. I recommend this item.
