Essential Info

Stop fumbling around for a light switch in the dark or while you have something in your hands, by using the Smarthome Screw-in Motion Sensing Light Adapter you can have light bulbs turn on automatically when you enter a room and off automatically after you leave. It doesn't get any easier than this; there is no wiring or advanced installation required. Simply turn the existing light switch off, remove the light bulb it controls, screw in the adapter to the empty socket, screw the light bulb back into the adapter and turn the switch back to on. Now you can carry those dirty clothes into the laundry room, walk into the garage, enter a walk-in closet, go to the basement or climb up into the attic and never get stuck looking for a light switch. The Passive Infrared (PIR) motion sensor detects movement with a 360° field of vision up to five meters. There are three adjustable dials that let you customize the settings of your adapter. This automatic switch will not only make your life more convenient, but because it turns of automatically, it conserves energy as well.

Note: Maximum power for an incandescent bulb is 60W, for an energy saving bulb it is 20W.

    Smarthome Screw-in Motion Sensing Light Adapter Adjustable Dial Settings
  • LITE: adjusts when the adapter will turn a light on according to lighting intensity. The moon symbol represents weak lighting intensity and the sun symbol represents strong lighting intensity. Turn the dial clockwise for the adapter to work in a strong lighting intensity and counterclockwise for weak lighting intensity.
  • TIME: adjusts the on time for the light when the adapter is triggered. The "-" symbol represent the minimum amount of time (5 seconds) and the "+" symbol represents the maximum amount of time (100 seconds). Turn the dial clockwise to increase on time and counterclockwise to decrease on time.
  • SENSOR: adjust the detection range for the PIR motion sensor, maximum area is approximately five meters in a 360 degree fashion from the adapter. The "-" symbol represents the minimum detection range and the "+" symbol represents the maximum detection range. Turn the dial clockwise to increase detection range and counterclockwise to decrease detection range

    Please Note: Once the adapter has been installed properly and power has been applied, the initial warm up may cause the adapter to turn the light on and off several times within the first 60 seconds. Once the Smarthome Screw-in Motion Sensing Light Adapter has warmed up, it will take a bit of effort to fine tune each of the dials to your desired settings.

    Would have gotten 5 stars but I had to send back the first one because it didn't work. The 2nd one works very well. Instructions appear written by a non-English speaker and are useless.

    Will not go on unless within 6 inches of lite....useless for a garage. Adjustment screws nfg. they just spin and spin without making a difference. I going back to First Alert and going to save receipts for 3 year warr.... this time.

    They work but only if it is real dark.I read another lady's reveiw and she is right .The first alert motion sensing light socket (PIR72ORN) is much better.They last about a year. It comes on any time you walk in a room, night or day.If you need one in a real dark room , it will work for you.

    I am 6' tall and the motion sensor works fine for me. However, I bought the sensor for my sister who is around 5'2". She is using it in her walk-in closet which has a standard 8' ceiling. It does not operate consistently for her even with the sensor set at maximum distance. The light is approximately 4' from the door entrance. When the light does not come on, she waves her hands in front of the sensor and the light still doesn't come on. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this product to consumers.

    Product works in a different room than originally planned. It was extremely easy to install and configure, but in the original room, the light was too high, and the motion didn't work well.

    This is a very poor quality product. The concept is great, and is very useful when working properly. However, if you need to make adjustments to the 3 dials, you will find the plastic dials don't turn easily with the correct sized screwdriver and break very easily (they aren't secured well). I bought two. One didn't work reliably and both had problems with the dials. I felt like this product was prototype quality and sent it back. I'm surprised at the number of positive reviews - maybe I just got a bad batch.

    The sensor adjustments don't seem to give the range that the description claims. With a high ceiling I had to use an extension for it to work on max range and you have to pass within 10 feet of the fixture to trigger it.

    The motion sensor was easy to install after finding the tiny screwdrivers to change the settings. The product works great, I recommend it. As a suggestion I will add a plastic small screwdriver to change the settings. At installation time we will have all the tools need it.
