Essential Info

Control the temperature from anywhere in the house! INSTEON Remote Control Thermostat allows you to recall stored set point/mode settings from any INSTEON-compatible controller. Faster than grabbing a blanket, you can use your coffee table RemoteLinc to recall "comfort mode," bringing the room to the perfect temperature. When turning off your lights for the night from your bedside KeypadLinc, you can also save some energy and money by recalling "energy-savings mode" which minimizes the activity of your HVAC system while you're sleeping. Because you can program any button on an INSTEON controller to any temperature and mode on the thermostat, the possibilities are endless.

Compatible Thermostat Included
This kit contains the Venstar T1800 thermostat along with the compatible INSTEON Thermostat Adapter; this thermostat requires power to function. If you do not have a "common" wire running to your thermostat from your heating/cooling equipment, you may need either to run a new wire or to install a thermostat Add-A-Wire Accessory kit.

Rev. 2 New Features
  • Reports changes in temp, temp setpoints, mode, and fan mode
  • Controller functionality on heat call, cool call, and fan call (auto & manual ON)
  • Supports +1, -1 degree on incremental bright/dim commands
  • Off Button functionality - If you want a link to respond to an Off command instead of an On command, send an Off command from the INSTEON controller within 30 seconds of linking and before any other INSTEON commands are sent.

    For a cleaner look, this is now available in an integrated version (INSTEON Adapter built-in).

    Also available in a 1 day programmable version 2491T1

    Easy To Install and Set Up
    Once you've installed your thermostat, INSTEON Thermostat Adapter snaps right into the jack on the bottom. Now all you need to do is set the thermostat to the mode/temperature you want and link it to the INSTEON controller of your choice, using INSTEON's simple Plug-n-Tap setup. Every time you activate that scene on the controller, your thermostat will return to the corresponding temperature. From plugging in your INSTEON Thermostat Adapter to changing the temperature from an INSTEON controller, setup takes as little as a couple of minutes.


    Non-Volatile Memory
    All thermostat settings are stored in non-volatile memory and are not lost during power failures.

    Check your wiring before you purchase to make sure whether or not u need the extra wire adapter. I found that changing the light switch next to the thermostat with a dual band greatly helped keeping it connected. No issues since I add the extra dual band

    This thermostat works very well with Indigo. Installation was simple and it has a rich set of features. I did lose communications with it once, though, so I hope that was an isolated incident.

    works well as advertised. I had to run a new 24 volt circuit. Other than the pains of fishing, the installation was easy breezy. Our house is a warm 73 degrees when my wife is at home and drops down to 69 degrees shortly before I get home. When we are both at home the thermal drama continues. Almost lost a star for not figuring out the battles from thermal drama.

    I've given this 4-stars only because I have not yet integrated this into a home automation/Insteon network. As a standalone programmable thermostat, I give it 5-stars as I'm really happy with it. The installation was quite easy and the operation is flawless. It has some really nice features I like such as: deadband adjustment and maximum number of cycles per hour. This is a nice energy saving feature in itself as it forces the system to run fewer times per hour, making the cycles longer--allowing the heat pump to get into its efficiency range. My old programmable thermostat did not offer these options. I'm looking forward to getting my ISY-99 and integrating this into my overall home automation plans.

    Works nicely responding to requests for temperature and humidity data. Used for controlling a greenhouse temperature and humidity. Display is hard to read at a distance. Hope it lasts better than the last one - about 15 months.

    It did not work with my Carrier Infinity HVAC system. It looked like it was working but when I turned the system off the fan on the heater would still cycle at a low speed. According to the president of my HVAC company that installed it the Infinity thermostat must be used with this unit. I could not find any reference anywhere to indicated the Venstar would not work with the Infinity. Additionally, the tech from Installernet had never installed one before and seemed to be from an AV company. I had my HVAC company back out to reinstall the Infinity thermostat. He noted the AC had not even been hooked up to the Venstar. All around, not a great experience though Smarthome has refunded the price of the hardware I'm still waiting to hear back from Installernet on a refund.

    I needed to get help from an HVAC guy to get my common wire hook up and ready. It was there but pushed up in the wire insullation. Plus he neede to hook up the common wire to each of my 2 furnaces. Works great though. I especially like the auto mode where you can set max and min temperatures and heat/cooling will come on as needed. I also love being able to check my thermostats through MobiLinc.

    Excellent product, did require running new wire to the thermostat, but being able to control the thermostat from my insteon setup was well worth it.
