Essential Info

Control the temperature from anywhere in the house! This Venstar Thermostat allows you to recall stored set point/mode settings from any INSTEON-compatible controller. Faster than grabbing a blanket, you can use your coffee table RemoteLinc to recall "comfort mode," bringing the room to the perfect temperature. When turning off your lights for the night from your bedside KeypadLinc, you can also save some energy and money by recalling "energy-savings mode" which minimizes the activity of your HVAC system while you're sleeping. Because you can program any button on an INSTEON controller to any temperature and mode on the thermostat, the possibilities are endless.

This product contains the Venstar T1700 thermostat along with an embedded INSTEON Thermostat Adapter; this thermostat requires power to function. If you do not have a "common" wire running to your thermostat from your heating/cooling equipment, you may need either to run a new wire or to install a thermostat Add-A-Wire kit.

To schedule different heating/cooling activation on different days and report humidity, choose the 7-day programmable version.

Note: Because the thermostat is an RF-only INSTEON product, at least one dual-band INSTEON device is required to communicate with your other INSTEON devices. This thermostat is not compatible with Venstar accessories that connect via the jack (located at the bottom of the unit).

    This is my second themostat, first one integrated with Insteon vs hanging off the botton. Not installed yet, but it it works as well as my other one (several years) I will be very happy.

    This is a nice t-stat, I like that it doesn't take batteries like my old t-stat. The insteon setup was a breeze. I use the isy-99 which needed a firmware update to be able to control the t-stat, and now it works very well!

    Disappointed to learn after we purchased that we didn't have the required wiring in our current furnace. The offer did not explain that we must have that wire in order to be functional.

    Thermostat was easy to install. It was a bit more difficult to set up. The Samrthome technical support team was outstanding at helping me reprogram my wireless router to get everything working correctly. Now that it is up and working, it is great and works as advertised.

    The thermostat, itself, was easy to install, and intuitive to set up. I use the UD99 v3.1.17, and the ISY-99i, for my Insteon network. I can see the thermostat, but it does not report temperature, and it does not respond to changes in set point. Documentation on the Insteon setup and control appears to be non-existent. If you want what looks to be a reliable and versatile thermostat, this appears to be a great way to go. If you want the Insteon control capability, expect challenges.

    Great product. Use it for a vacation home. Original version needed a firmware update which SmartHome handled very quickly and without problem. Device works flawlessly. I would recommend it to anyone considering a web/remote controlled 1 day thermostat.
