Essential Info

Control the temperature from anywhere in the house! INSTEON Remote Control Thermostat allows you to recall stored set point/mode settings from any INSTEON-compatible controller. Faster than grabbing a blanket, you can use your coffee table RemoteLinc to recall "comfort mode," bringing the room to the perfect temperature. When turning off your lights for the night from your bedside KeypadLinc, you can also save some energy and money by recalling "energy-savings mode" which minimizes the activity of your HVAC system while you're sleeping. Because you can program any button on an INSTEON controller to any temperature and mode on the thermostat, the possibilities are endless.

Compatible Thermostat Included
This kit contains the Venstar T1700 thermostat along with the compatible INSTEON Thermostat Adapter; this thermostat requires power to function. If you do not have a "common" wire running to your thermostat from your heating/cooling equipment, you may need either to run a new wire or to install a thermostat Add-A-Wire Accessory kit.

Rev. 2 New Features
  • Reports changes in temp, temp setpoints, mode, and fan mode
  • Controller functionality on heat call, cool call, and fan call (auto & manual ON)
  • Supports +1, -1 degree on incremental bright/dim commands
  • Off Button functionality - If you want a link to respond to an Off command instead of an On command, send an Off command from the INSTEON controller within 30 seconds of linking and before any other INSTEON commands are sent.

    For a cleaner look, this is now available in an integrated version (INSTEON Adapter built-in).

    To schedule different heating/cooling activation on different days and report humidity, choose the Venstar Thermostat - INSTEON Remote Control Thermostat 7-Day Programmable.

    Note: The INSTEON Thermostat is an RF-only INSTEON product, which is not X10 compatible. At least one Access Point is required to communicate with your plug-in or wire-in INSTEON-compatible devices.

    Easy To Install and Set Up
    Once you've installed your thermostat, INSTEON Thermostat Adapter snaps right into the jack on the bottom. Now all you need to do is set the thermostat to the mode/temperature you want and link it to the INSTEON controller of your choice, using INSTEON's simple Plug-n-Tap setup. Every time you activate that scene on the controller, your thermostat will return to the corresponding temperature. From plugging in your INSTEON Thermostat Adapter to changing the temperature from an INSTEON controller, setup takes as little as a couple of minutes.


    Non-Volatile Memory
    All thermostat settings are stored in non-volatile memory and are not lost during power failures.

    Easy to install and program - simple interface. Very cost effective way to control home temps via internet when combined with Smartlinc, but Smartlinc only supports a single thermostat.

    It is nice to have a multi-day timer thermostat, but when you combine this thermostat with an ISY99, you have ultimate control over your home each and every day. I love the ability to adjust temps when I wake up, go to work come home, go to sleep and vary the schedule every day based on my habits. This thing is flawless!

    The thermostat is fine, but the adapter for it stopped working, negating the entire system and whole point of remote control from afar. If the adapter can't be fixed, then the entire system was a waste of lots of time and money.

    Works great, just make sure to buy the 7 day version if you need to sense humidity levels, this one will NOT accept the humidity module. I use these for many heat only applications like garages, radient, etc. Make sure you also have two of the plug in Access Points!

    This is a better thermostat then the X10 versions. One thing I don't like is the daily schedule has 4 time settings during the day and all of them have to be set. For example, you cannot have one morning setting and one evening setting.

    I purchased two of these and linked them to my ISY-99 controller. So far they work without a flaw. They're very easy to program and use, most intuitive I've ever encountered. Many functions and options are available. These are among the most useful items I have in my home automation system. They automatically illuminate the buttons and temperature display during nighttime hours, which I find extremely useful. cons: I haven't found any as yet, but they don't have a battery, so I don't know what will happen to their programming in a power failure.

    This thermostat works fine. As the instructions say, it does need a +24V continuous power wire from the furnace - you have to add that yourself if your system doesn't already have it. I still receive group broadcast msgs but NOT directed ACKs to a cross-linked controller. Haven't solved this problem yet.

    More detailed instructions on how to set the jumpers on the inside of the unit would be nice. Once I got that figured out through a process of trial and elimination, things worked fine. BTW, the settings listed in the instructions for the unit I have, were not how the jumpers needed to be set. Just sayin'.
