INSTEON - Best Sellers Kit features our most popular products for controlling lights and appliances. With an emphasis on lighting control, there are more dimmable switches, plug-in modules and keypads included with this kit. These give you the ability to customize the ramp rate, brightness level and set timers for any individual dimmable light or group of lights. We have also included relay switches and outlets for controlling non-dimmable lights and appliances. Automation would not be complete without remote control; so you will receive a couple of handheld remotes and an IR interface that will let you use an existing universal remote to control your INSTEON devices. For complete control, SmartLinc - INSTEON Central Controller allows any web-enabled mobile device to control or create timers for INSTEON devices or scenes from inside your home, in the backyard, at work, in the car or on vacation halfway around the world! "Light-years ahead of the X10 parts I replaced as far as set up, function and reliability. The 2 access points fixed my long-time issue of a 2 phase electrical system just by plugging them in. The online videos and help were a great reference when installing and setting up all of the parts. The SmartLinc is fairly basic in its function and does not do as much as I expected it to (and the reason for the less than perfect rating). "I purchased these Insteon products to replace the large quantity of (often unreliable) X-10 items I have accumulated over the years, for use in my 110-year-old 12-room house. I have three 4095W X-10 Powerhouse model RSS18 wireless remote wall switches that are installed in rooms where I cannot install a hard-wired switch without an inordinate amount of work and/or significant collateral damage. As far as I can tell, there is nothing in your Insteon line that duplicates the function of the 4095W. The 2440 handheld RemoteLinc provides a similar function (and more), but it is not intended for mounting on a wall (and certainly would not look like a normal wall switch in this application, as the 4095W does). I understand that an Insteon wireless wall switch can probably not be as slim as the 4095W such that it would be suitable for surface mounting, but it would be great if you could develop one that would fit in a (plastic) wall box. (My problem is not that I am unable to cut a hole in the wall for an electric box. It is not being able to runs wires to it without tearing down the ceilings in the rooms below -- the walls in this house are not stacked above one another, but are staggered horizontally from floor to floor)." - PETER - NAHANT, MA
