I purchased these Insteon products to replace the large quantity of (often unreliable) X-10 items I have accumulated over the years, for use in my 110-year-old 12-room house. I have three 4095W X-10 Powerhouse model RSS18 wireless remote wall switches that are installed in rooms where I cannot install a hard-wired switch without an inordinate amount of work and/or significant collateral damage. As far as I can tell, there is nothing in your Insteon line that duplicates the function of the 4095W. The 2440 handheld RemoteLinc provides a similar function (and more), but it is not intended for mounting on a wall (and certainly would not look like a normal wall switch in this application, as the 4095W does). I understand that an Insteon wireless wall switch can probably not be as slim as the 4095W such that it would be suitable for surface mounting, but it would be great if you could develop one that would fit in a (plastic) wall box. (My problem is not that I am unable to cut a hole in the wall for an electric box. It is not being able to runs wires to it without tearing down the ceilings in the rooms below -- the walls in this house are not stacked above one another, but are staggered horizontally from floor to floor).

A great way to get started with Insteon, however it comes with the SmartLinc that I can't use as I'm using the Powerlinc to interface to HAL by Home Automated Living.

This kit allows me to control everything I want in my house. Great way to get started at a savings. I have found the devices to be reliable and we are definitely saving on electricity and energy costs.
