After replacing your old switches, dimmers, outlets and thermostat simply load the included HouseLinc software onto your PC and begin creating lighting scenes, timer events, keypad buttons and more. All without having to leave the comfort of your chair.
Also includes SmartLinc web interface which allows controlling your lighting and thermostat from any web-enabled mobile device such as an iPad or iPhone.
Explanation of kit contents:
HouseLinc - PC programming software makes it possible to configure all INSTEON devices with a simple drag-and-drop process. Can also be configured to send email alerts based on lights turning on or off.

SmartLinc - plugs into an outlet and connects to your router which can then be accessed from any web-enabled device. It features sunrise and sunset timers, day-of-week timers and more. Organize devices by rooms and create lighting scenes that turn on multiple lights at the same time. (iPhone sold separately)
One remote controllable Thermostat - replaces a standard thermostat and allows remote activation of heating/cooling or raising/lowering set points from the SmartLinc web interface, KeypadLinc, HouseLinc software or any other INSTEON controller. One of the most popular remote setups is to have all the lights and thermostat controlled from a single button on a KeypadLinc (see below). The button would be an All Off that would allow you to shut down the house as you leave for work each day. This prevents lighting from being left on or the thermostat from heating (or cooling) the home after you've left for the day. The thermostat requires power to function. If you do not have a "common" wire running to your thermostat from your heating/cooling equipment, you may need to run a new wire or install a thermostat

Two 6-button KeypadLinc and One 8-Button KeypadLinc - replaces a standard wall switch* and can control multiple devices including it's own built-in 600 Watt dimmer. Ideally located near the front door, master bedroom and garage for quick and easy access to lights (or temperature) throughout the home.
Four SwitchLinc dimmers (dual-band) and two SwitchLinc switches - these replace existing switches*. The dimmers can control incandescent loads up to 600 Watts and feature on-level presets and adjustments for how fast the light fades on and off. The dimmers also feature dual-band technology, which allows them to send and receive signals via the power line and radio frequency. The switches control non-dimming loads such as fluourescent and motors (up to 15 Amps).
Two OutletLincs - replaces existing outlets* and provides a controlled outlet (top) and an always-on outlet (bottom). Controlled outlet is rated for up to 15 Amps and is ideal for controlling a wide variety of load types including lamps, table fans and other appliances.
One LampLinc - for controlling dimmable floor lamps or table lamps. Features adjustable ramp rate and preset on-level for custom lighting scenes.
One motion sensor - for automatic control of lighting when motion is detected. Can be set to trigger at all times or only when dark and is able to be used indoors or outdoors with a wireless range of up to 150 feet.
