If you're like most people, rising utility costs are hitting you where it hurts the most - your wallet! One way to combat skyrocketing utility bills is to use the SmartLinc - INSTEON Lamp, Keypad and Wall Switch Web-based Control Kit, a solution that makes controlling the use of traditional incandescent light bulbs and new energy efficient light bulbs a breeze. By using the included SwitchLinc Relay switches along with energy efficient CFL light bulbs and/or LED light bulbs installed in your fixtures, you can start saving on your electricity costs immediately. You can control lamps using incandescent bulbs with the included Dual-Band LampLinc Dimmers, which have advanced features like an adjustable ramp rate that slowly brings the lamp on, a preset dim level that stores your preferred choice of 32 brightness levels when turning the lamp on initially, as well as local control, so you can still use the lamp's built-in switch to turn the light on and off. The LampLincs also double as a pair of Access Points - relaying RF and powerline signals to other INSTEON-compatible devices in the home. While each INSTEON device can control an individual light, you can also link the SwitchLincs and the LampLincs to the KeypadLinc to control lights remotely, even from another area of your home. Thanks to the KeypadLinc's status LEDs, you'll be able to see at a glance if connected lights are on or off. You can even link the two SwitchLincs together to control a single light from two different locations, or link a LampLinc (or both LampLincs) to the Switchlincs to control a plug-in lamp from any outlet.

This kit also features the use of SmartLinc. SmartLinc allows you to use your web-enabled phone or PDA (designed for optimal use with an iPhone or iPod touch) to access your network and turn your devices off from virtually anywhere. Additionally, SmartLinc allows you to set custom timers - limiting the use of lights based on when you are home or by sunrise and sunset.

A basic kit is also available, which includes the exact same modules in this kit, without a SmartLinc - INSTEON Central Controller.

Note: If you are using LED lights that are very low wattage, you may notice that the LED's do not turn out completely when plugged into an ApplianceLinc. In this case, you'll need to add to the load with more LED's or higher wattage bulbs - generally higher than a 5 watt load.
