Overview

  • Add remote control to virtually any switch or outlet
  • The smallest inline module ever! Fits into almost all boxes
  • Turn your antique, custom color or non-standard wall switches into home automation switches
  • Wire in behind your existing switches, outlets and above your light fixtures
  • Sense wires allow for control via a connected, hard-wired switch
  • Compatible with latching switches as well as single momentary and dual momentary switches

Essential Info

Adding remote control to wired lights usually means replacing switches, not any more. With INSTEON's new dual-band Micro On/Off Module, you can keep your antique, toggle or decorative wall switches while adding the same remote control functionality of SwitchLinc.

This compact module installs behind your existing switch, giving it full INSTEON automation while retaining local control at the switch by way of sense wires. Connect the sense wires to any style wall switch to match any type of designer theme (antique, push-button, metal, etc.) Micro On/Off is so tiny that it can be installed as an in-line module within a fixture box, providing remote control without having to run wires to a wall switch.

INSTEON also offers a Micro Dimmer Module and a Micro Open/Close Module.

What's Included

  • INSTEON Micro On/Off Module
  • Quick-Start Guide
  • More Info

INSTEON Micro On/Off is compatible with latching, single momentary and dual momentary switches. By default, it comes programmed for latching switches such as paddles and toggles; it is easily configured for single and dual momentary switches with a simple reprogramming procedure during installation.

Due to its hidden nature, we highly recommend using a home management controller (such as HouseLinc) or the free INSTEON app with INSTEON Hub to manage Micro Open/Close.

I installed bathroom fans in each of our upstairs bathrooms. I installed junctions boxes in the attic using power that was already in the attic. For one fan I used the old style InLinelinc I had purchased previously for a lamp post future project and this micro on/off for the other fan. Linked each to their respective Switchlincs and they both work perfectly. No more moist bathrooms. The fans and modules can easily be serviced in the attic if need be.

I purchased two of the micro on/off modules to replace the OutletLinc relays, controlling under cabinet lighting, since they were not dual band; I was having issues getting the devices to respond after purchasing new appliances. One junction box is plastic and the other is metal; blocking the wireless signal to control the module. I had to modify the module's antenna (small wire taped to the outside) and extend it about 6 inches. The extended antenna was then taped to the underside of the face plate for the outlet. Works perfectly every time! I hope this helps someone else! Be sure, if you have to modify, re-tape the module's antenna back down to prevent damage and insulate any exposed wires!

Awesome little device - I put up a security/flood light and still wanted a wall switch so this was the perfect choice considering I didn't want to run wire from the light all the way to the outlet location. There is a slight delay in hitting the switch and when the light actually comes on but we are only talking seconds maybe 2/3 at the most.
MARCELO -- sao paulo, XX   5/21/2014
The sensing wires could be more robust
Peter Shipley -- United States   5/18/2014
bought as the offical recommend replacment for the 2475S2 In-LineLinc Relay with sense. After installing I discovered it was not compatible given it fails to support disabling the sense function via fast on & fast off like the 2475S2. Currently smarthome offers no work around or solution other then installing a 2nd device in tandem on each circuit not a real solution or setting up a script to manually send off commands when the unit is activated even less a solution Other problems : the sense wires are too fragile, break easily & are not replaceable. should be a screw terminal like all other connections
MICHAEL -- winston salem, NC   5/11/2014
For a non-electrician these were easy to install and a great addition to our home lighting system. Wish I had found Insteon sooner!
DAVID -- maple grove, MN   4/20/2014
Similar to my review of the micro dimmer module (2442-222), overall works well and really nice.
    BILL -- camarillo, CA   2/25/2014
Order received promptly, kept as spare.
    FENTON -- melbourne, FL   1/26/2014
Easy installation. Fits in existing box, even with large switches and rheostats. Can use existing switches, don't have any problems matching colors.
PIERRE -- carleton place, ON   1/18/2014
Probably one of the coolest home automation devices I ever bought. The fact that it turns an everyday switch into an insteon device is fanominal. I installed mine on the light of my range hood over my stove. This is perfect for this type of application. The best part is that it turns the on off button into a toggle button. Very cool.
STEVE -- san jose, CA   1/12/2014
Should be $25, then would give it 5 stars. Nice, compact device. Great that it is dual band. Should be cheaper. Also, should have a way to tuck in unused yellow/purple wires.
HENRY -- montgomery center, VT   1/9/2014
    Good design
    JAMES -- manheim, PA   1/4/2014
Fits in an electrical box behind a switch OK. I like that it has screw terminals rather then pigtails. This saves room in the box and makes installation easier.
MAXWELL -- la mesa, CA   12/6/2013
Took a while to get the installation wrapped around my head. Diagram does a good job, but if you are confused just consult an electrician. Big plus in the dual band!!!! Without it this would not work for me. I am very pleased with the wireless capability.
CHRIS -- armstrong creek, XX   11/18/2013
    Great thanks
    ALESSANDRO -- taguatinga, XX   10/11/2013
This module is ideal for those who want to keep the existing switch and use your existing installation. Just take only one neutral and one phase conductor to power the module.
HARRY -- palo alto, CA   10/4/2013
Excellent product for an older home. I used this micro unit at the box for a LED light. I used the two wires to the switch for line and neutral. This allows me to still have power line control as well as RF to the device.
TIM -- san ramon, CA   9/21/2013
Small, yes, and that's good, but the radio only works until 5 feet away. As mentioned elsewhere, the screw terminals are iffy when cramming it in electrical box - I used the suggestion in another comment, attach short pigtails of stranded wire.
    RALPH -- belhaven, NC   9/19/2013
Can be a bit tough to fit into some smaller electrical boxes. Sense wire doesn't always work, but remote commands do.
CHRIS -- armstrong creek, XX   9/19/2013
    Perfect.
