SmartLinc - INSTEON Central Controller is an affordable and flexible central controller perfect for enhancing any INSTEON home automation network. SmartLinc integrates INSTEON technology with any web-enabled mobile device through Wi-Fi and cellular communication, allowing you to control or create timers for INSTEON devices or scenes from inside your home, in the backyard, at work, in the car or on vacation halfway around the world! Whether you are a DIYer, an electrician, or a home automation integrator, you will enjoy the ease with which programming and discovering of INSTEON devices is accomplished. A simple plug-in installation sets up in minutes and will allow a web-enabled phone or PDA to control your INSTEON network from almost anywhere. SmartLinc has been designed for optimal use with an iPhone or iPod touch as a mobile touch screen; however, there are customizable user-downloadable server applications that provide a flexible interface for any web-enabled device. As an added feature, SmartLinc includes IP camera support, giving you the versatility to incorporate watching and controlling your IP enabled surveillance cameras through you web-enabled interface. Status/Feedback
Get confirmation that a device or scene has been activated.
Sunrise/Sunset Support for Timers
Turn your lights on and off automatically based on local sunrise/sunset. Select city/state or latitude/longitude.
Enhanced Thermostat Status and Control
You now have a dedicated page for controlling and reading status on your INSTEON-compatible thermostat.
Start/Stop Dimming
Select between incremental or start/stop dimming and brightening of lights. By enabling start/stop dimming, SmartLinc sends out a continuous Bright or Dim command when first pressed. Press a second time to stop when the lights get to a desired level.
Advanced Custom Control
Power users rejoice. Now you can get down to the command code and modify commands. Some of the things you can do include at the device or scene level:
- Copy a scene from one room to another room
- Change Group ON to Group Fast On
- Create an All On or All Off for all devices linked to SmartLinc without having to re-link devices
- Incorporate X10 devices
- Create On Off macros with delay
HTML Version Always Present
Now you can access HTML or Java versions of SmartLinc simultaneously. This makes it possible for more than a single user to set a preference on how the SmartLinc UI appears.

Ideal At-Home Control
SmartLinc works in combination with your router and any mobile Wi-Fi or web-enabled device to control INSTEON devices within your home. Setup only requires a few easy steps to identify your network IP address and then type it into your PC or mobile device. After setup has been completed, you can start linking INSTEON lights and appliances and creating scenes that will make home life more convenient and energy efficient.
Requirements:
- Wi-Fi enabled phone or PDA
- Wi-Fi router
- PC connected to router
Note: The Linksys Router Model WRT610N Version 1 has been found to be incompatible with the Smartlinc. The more recent version WRT610N Version 2 is compatible with the SmartLinc.
Away from Home Control
In much the same way as the At-Home setup works, while you are away from home you can access your INSTEON network using SmartLinc in conjunction with any internet connection or Wi-Fi hotspot. Simply identify your home’s IP address and type it into your mobile device, then you can turn devices on or off at anytime, from anywhere, with the same reliability as you would have at home.
Requirements:
- Broadband internet connection (at home)
- Web-enabled phone, PDA or PC
- Router with port forwarding configured
- Static IP address OR dynamic DNS service
Caution: Opening your firewall can potentially put your network at risk
MiCasa - Native iPhone App for Use with SmartLinc Now Available
Using SmartLinc Central Controller, MiCasa allows for remote control of all switches, outlets and dimmers on your INSTEON network. Control dimming and On/Off device operation using your iPhone or iPod touch (currently does not support advanced control with thermostats, I/O controllers, sprinkler controllers, scenes, or timers).
- Note: MiCasa does not currently support the more advanced INSTEON devices such as Thermostats, I/O controllers, sprinkler controllers, scenes or timers. Future releases may add functionality for these devices.
- Available through iTunes: $.99 for each device you wish to control - after 30 devices it supports unlimited number of devices
Timers
Whether you are at-home or away from home, scheduling timers for devices on your INSTEON network is a valuable way to not only make your life easier but to manage the amount of energy consumption that is taking place. Timers can be set up from your PC or mobile device for one On time and one Off time for every scene in SmartLinc.
Pre-Organized, User-Defined Rooms
SmartLinc - INSTEON Central Controller takes remote access of your INSTEON home automation network a step further. It gives you the ability to apply unique names and labels for devices and scenes and then further organize those into rooms. By assigning your own naming convention, you define the simplicity of navigating your own network.
IP Camera Support
SmartLinc - INSTEON Central Controller enables you access a network surveillance camera so that you can watch your home while you control it, all from a web-enabled device. Turn on your interior lights or your yard lights; and from the same screen watch it happen. This amazing feature has been tested with several Panasonic IP Cameras, sold separately, and consider it to be a valuable tool that integrates your home automation and security into one.
iPhone and iPod touch Control
If you already have an iPhone or iPod touch and a Wi-Fi router, SmartLinc is all you need to start controlling all of your INSTEON devices. Smarthome engineers created an interface that has been optimized to take full advantage of the power within the iPhone and iPod touch. Quality graphics and quick response make these products ideal as an INSTEON remote control touch screen.
Don't Block your Outlets
SmartLinc - INSTEON Central Controller includes Smarthome's innovative pass-through AC outlet on the front of the unit. This outlet allows you to plug in additional AC devices without affecting the SmartLinc. While the outlet doesn't have any control features, it really helps against "power strip buildup."

Non-Volatile Memory & Battery Backup

SmartLinc - INSTEON Central Controller has 32KB of downloadable EEPROM memory that won't be erased if the power fails. An on-board clock keeps accurate time, all the time, with integrated 10-year battery backup.
