Essential Info

Are lights or appliances in one area of your house having trouble receiving signals from INSTEON or X10 transmitters in another area of the house? This problem is easily correctable with Smarthome's Hardwired INSTEON SignaLinc Phase Coupler (also called a signal bridge).

Because most homes have 2-phase 220V power that splits into two separate 110V legs, sometimes automation commands have a hard time making the transition from one leg to the other. But connect the Hardwired INSTEON SignaLinc Phase Coupler to your home's breaker box, and it will bridge INSTEON and X10 signals between the two power lines in your home easily, allowing virtually all of your automation receivers to respond to X10 and INSTEON signals.

How do I Know I Need a SignaLinc?
Here is an easy test you can perform to see if your home would benefit from a SignaLinc. Find the X10- or INSTEON-compatible transmitter and receiver that never seem to work together and try sending a signal between the two right now (still not working, right?). Then, turn on a 220-volt appliance, like your electric oven, clothes dryer, or central air conditioning. It has to be an all-electric appliance; turning on a gas dryer won't work. Now, go back to the transmitter and re-send the signal to that problematic module. If it now works, then you've proven that a SignaLinc will help the X10 and INSTEON signals in your home. In this test, the 220-volt appliance acted like a phase coupler.

New Design, Only Two Wires to Connect
Unlike many other hardwired solutions that require a neutral connection, the Hardwired INSTEON SignaLinc Phase Coupler offers easy two-wire connection (plus the ground wire). That makes it ideal for older homes that may have a limited number of openings on the neutral bus bar. Additionally, the two-wire design allowed our engineers to improve the coupling between phases over traditional signal bridges.

    Can I Install it Myself?
In most cases, yes. If you've ever replaced a broken circuit breaker, then you have the experience to install a phase coupler. You will need two dedicated 15-amp circuit breakers (available at a home improvement center). If you have more than one electrical panel, the SignaLinc should be installed at the panel closest to the point where electricity enters the building. If you choose to have an electrician install it, it should be no more than an hour's job to mount and wire it.

Note: The Hardwired INSTEON SignaLinc Phase Coupler is a passive coupler and does not amplify the signal. This means the signal coupled onto the receiving phase will be no stronger than the original signal on the transmitting phase. How well the SignaLinc works in your home is dependent on many factors, including signal strength for the transmission phase.

( ETL Listed Mark)The Hardwired INSTEON SignaLinc Phase Coupler has been tested, investigated and found to comply with the requirements of the Standard(s) for Information Technology Equipment (UL-1950) and are identified with the ETL Listed Mark. The product with this mark on it has been certified by Intertek Testing Services (ITS). This certification mark indicates that the product has been tested to and has met the minimum requirements of a widely recognized (consensus) U.S. product safety standard, that the manufacturing site has been audited, and that the applicant has agreed to a program of periodic factory follow-up inspections to verify continued conformance.

    Safety Tested and Factory Certification
All SignaLinc products are safety approved. The assembly line for SmartLabs Design Products is ISO9001 certified. In order to meet the ISO 9001 standards, the entire factory underwent rigorous inspections of procedures and policies before being thoroughly audited. The certification received was based on its dedication to high quality management systems and strict adherence of quality systems and guidelines.

A little bit more complicated but no hill for a climber. Follow the directions and it does it's job.

I had some switches on the other phase that didn't work with X10. This unit fixed the problem. I recently got the switches working on Insteon protocol and it works great for that too. The only down-side to this device is the holes for screwing the blank cover plate on are the same ones that are used to hold the unit into the electrical J-Box.

If it for Insteon phase coupling why does the specs say INSTEON Messages Repeated: No ? Is this any better than a CP000-11 X-10 coupler?
Smarthome response:It will pass the powerline signal (X10 or INSTEON) to the other phase, thereby coupling the phases. What it means by "INSTEON Messages Repeated" is that the unit is passive and does not "echo" the signal it hears. The functional difference between the two models is negligible.
    WASEEM -- doha, XX   8/1/2013
    worked Best.
    ANTHONY -- tucson, AZ   6/17/2013
Works great. Should have spent the money on this product instead of trying to save money on a $1.00 piece of junk on Ebay.
    THOMAS -- payson, AZ   5/16/2013
Installed on main breaker panel without difficulty. Systems is running well, but hard to tell the exact contribution of the coupler.
    Stuart -- atlanta, GA   4/28/2013
The X-10 was intermitent at best. The 2406H made it work 100%!
TANER -- san diego, CA   4/25/2013
Works great to bridge the power phases in my home. HOWEVER: 1 complaint is that there are no faceplate covers that seem to fit, since it uses the mounting holes, and I haven't found a full blank that uses the "decora" holes (usually blanks use the mounting holes). To be fair: I have not looked super-hard, so maybe they exist somewhere.
RICHARD -- great neck, NY   3/7/2013
    so far so good
ALAN -- north haledon, NJ   2/24/2013
    easy to install works great
    CHRIS -- franklin, MA   1/19/2013
fixed the issue of getting signal to the other phase.
JOSEPH -- van nuys, CA   1/16/2013
Does what it's meant to do
FRANK -- kansas city, MO   1/10/2013
works great even on my large home. X10 and Insteon signals are bridged well. The only Con is you need to be an electrician on confident opening your breaker panel to install this.
DAVID -- new canaan, CT   1/10/2013
Passive design may not be strong enough if you have multiple signal attenuators, multiple panels, or several power supplies without filters.
    PAUL -- mckinney, TX   1/10/2013
    working. thanks.
    JAMES -- charlotte, NC   1/5/2013
    Works as advertised.
    RYAN -- otsego, MN   12/26/2012
Easy to setup and works perfectly!
    MARVIN -- waverly, IA   12/13/2012
The Phase coupler works great, it makes my controller very reliable all though the house.
    Jim -- Mass   11/28/2012
Does not pass X-10 signals from remotes or Slimline Motion Detectors. Passes insteon and X-10 from PCM fine.
    ANTHONY -- anchorage, AK   11/22/2012
Awesome, I drop a cut in box under or over the panel (where I see the least amount of cables entering the panel) or just hard wire directly in the panel if room and zip tie it to something solid so it can't move during minor earthquakes. This unit cures many issues of communication with your devices and network possibilities. As alway, Insteon is a great product!
