Powerline Interface Delivers Computer Commands to UPB DevicesThe Computer UPB Interface Module is a plug-in module that enables computer-based configuration and control of household lighting, appliances and other devices. By plugging in this interface and connecting it to your PC via the included DB-9 cable, you'll be capable of communicating with UPB plug-in modules and/or switches to control virtually anything that can be connected to existing wiring anywhere in the home, all via your PC. The Computer UPB Interface Module receives and transmits UPB digital commands and converts these signals to a serial RS-232C interface format. With the free, downloadable software, the computer can then be used to configure and/or control UPB devices; any UPB-compatible software can also be used to control your devices. A non-controlled power outlet is provided on the face of the module. The Computer UPB Interface Module is USB compatible when used with an RS-232-to-USB adapter (sold separately).
Transceiver Base Allows Maximum Switch FlexibilityReplace an existing switch with the UPB Transceiver-Controller Base for ultra-reliable control of lamps, fans and other electrical devices. Best of all, once this base is installed, you can change the faceplate in seconds to control lights or appliances with a single rocker switch, a quad rocker switch or even a faceplate that controls devices with switches and buttons. Two complete 1000-watt switches are included with this kit, along with the transceiver base and an oval 4-button 1-rocker faceplate; additional faceplates are sold separately.
Additional Transceiver Base DetailsThe UPB Transceiver-Controller Base controls a load of up to 1000 watts and is capable of communicating with UPB plug-in modules, switches, and/or other UPB devices to control virtually anything that can be connected to existing wiring anywhere in the home. Regardless of your chosen faceplate, the UPB Transceiver-Controller Base offers 200 dimming steps as well as a resume dim feature for attractive lighting ambience as well as the flexibility you deserve. It is not recommended that this switch be used with non-dimmable lighting or with appliances.
Phase Coupler Bridges Two Phases of Electrical Power For Increased UPB ReliabilityBecause most homes have 2-phase 220V power that splits into two separate 110V legs, sometimes UPB signals have a hard time making the transition from one leg to the other. Simply connect the starter kit's included Wire-in UPB Phase Coupler in your home's circuit breaker panel, and it will bridge UPB signals between the two power lines in your home easily, allowing virtually all of your UPB receivers to respond to UPB signals. This universal phase coupler even passes X10 signals from one electrical phase to the other, and it also features built-in surge suppression to protect components on both electrical phases from surge damage.
About Universal Powerline Bus TechnologyUPB technology delivers exceptional reliability and noise immunity at a much lower installed cost when compared to hardwired and RF solutions, and you'll experience no interference from adjacent homes. UPB technology is not X10 compatible.
