The back cover of the ACT AT004 was missing two of the four screws that hold the cover in place. There were several noticable spatters of solder on the front control panel that had to be scraped off. The unit seems to function properly. The unit was quite expensive at over $200 and I expected the quality control would have been much better.

I did not use it yet. I had a delivery problem and it was very well managed by you and I found later that the parcel had been held at the borner during 2 weeks. I rate your customer service 5 stars.

This terrific device shows you just what's happening with the X-10 devices in your house. I used it to solve a problem with the X-10 software in 5 minutes. It will also emit X-10 commands for testing purposes. It was worth the price to me when I couldn't get answers anyplace else.

The tester operating instructions do not give any criteria for noise levels or signal levels.

Excellent tool. I found my week points in my X10/Insteon home system.

So far Smart Home has replaced this unit for me twice. They would have had to do it a third time 2 year warranty but this time when the unit died, I set it back to the company that made it. They replaced an internal fuse in it and sent it back to me All previous problems with the unit were caused by a blown fuse. Because it is an internal fuse, opening up the unit to replace the fuse could void your warranty. It is a wired in fuse and so replacing it would require some technical abilities. I plugged the repaired unit back into my X10 system and within 24 hours it was dead again. Tech support from Advanced Control Technologies finally concluded that the problem with the unit was that it was not designed to run continually. They are going to put a statement in their instructions that says not to use it for longer than 24 hours at a time. It is a good device for reading X10 signals, but not for long term operation.
