With HALBasic software, you'll be able to use your computer's microphone system or any phone in the house to dictate how you want the lighting and appliances in your home to react. You can also ask HAL to read you your E-mail, give you a stock quote or a sports score or a TV listing: HAL automatically harvests Internet information for use when you want it. HAL software sends commands to your house by way of a computer-based controller (required and sold separately).

Voice-controlled home automation lets you speak to all of the technology in your home. From traditional technologies, like lights and thermostats, to new technologies, such as personal video recorders and MP3 players, you'll have the ability to control all of the devices in your home just by speaking into your computer's microphone or picking up the phone and pressing a single button.
HAL software taps the power of your existing PC to control your home. Once the HAL software is installed on your PC, it can send commands all over your house using the existing highway of electrical wires inside your home's walls. Just pick up the phone and press the # key, and you'll have HAL's attention. It's a two-way conversation, with HAL confirming that it has, indeed, performed the requested action.
HALbasic includes some of the most powerful features of the HAL home control system at a fraction of the cost. With HALbasic, you will be able to talk to your PC to control a limited number of lights and devices in your home. You can turn lights on and off, dim them for scene lighting, and schedule them to go on and off automatically whenever and as often as you want. Lamps and appliances to be controlled will require lamp and appliance modules, sold separately.
You'll find numerous upgraded features in the HAL Deluxe Software (sold separately), such as unlimited home automation control and expanded telephony features. Or choose the top-of-the-line HAL2000 Software, which has all of the features of the HALDeluxe software, along with expanded interfacing with heating systems, home theater control, and other inputs and outputs not registered by the more basic HAL software.
Add the HALvoices (sold separately) plug-in to hear more human-sounding voices' responding to your commands. Also available and sold separately is the HALdmc Digital Music Center, designed to give you the same easy voice control of your entire music collection that HAL extends to all of the devices in your home. HALBasic software is also available to be purchased separately, if you don't need to take advantage of the phone control.
