Essential Info
Indigo 4.0 is home automation software designed specifically for the Macintosh (Mac) operating system. It was designed to control INSTEON and X10-compatible products using the existing electrical wires in your home. The Lite version of Indigo software can control lights, appliances and motion sensors; the Pro version can control the same devices as the Lite version along with sprinklers, thermostats, and more. You can program specific action events to occur based on a variety of variables, including time. For example, you can program any lights to turn on and off at specific times, or at sunset. With this innovative Mac home automation software, you can even create delayed actions (i.e. turn off lights after 10 minutes of no motion being detected). Use an optional time randomizing feature for an at-home look while you are at work or on vacation. Indigo 4.0 gives you access to your home automation system from the internet anywhere in the world using the built-in Web server. Or you can add the Indigo Touch application for free, and remotely connect to your home from an iPhone or iPod touch. Your Mac will become an intelligent home automation server, offering unprecedented control of your INSTEON or X10 devices via computer, remote control operation, and timed or conditional variables. Using Indigo 4.0 Lite to manage the use of your lighting, appliances and motion sensors (as well as HVAC, sprinklers, and more for Indigo 4.0 Pro) can help reduce costs for your utilities and conserve energy at the same time. A PowerLinc Controller USB, sold separately, is required for Indigo to communicate with any INSTEON-compatible devices. 10/01/2009 - Version 4.1 Released - Free Upgrade for Indigo 4.0 UsersThe latest update to Indigo intelligent home control and automation server for Mac OS X now supports both the INSTEON PowerLinc Modem USB Interface and the Serial Interface. These interfaces support INSTEON extended messages which enable advanced features in some INSTEON products and improves the speed and reliability of device linking. Owners of v4.0 can upgrade for free through the Perceptive Automation website. Select the Right Version for YouIndigo 4 comes in two versions: Indigo Lite and Indigo Pro. Indigo Lite is intended for users that only control a few lights, appliances and other devices. Indigo Pro is for those who want more complete control of their Home Automation systems. Review the comparison chart for details and to determine which version is right for you. Several compatibility charts are also available to help you with designing your home automation system: Please Note: Smarthome does not accept returns on any opened software.

Indigo Touch

General Features
- Multiple Conditional Triggers - You can use conditional triggers, such as incorporating motion detectors to turn on lights or other devices as you walk into the room.
- Support Scenes - Indigo allows you to create different lighting scenes, like "Party," "Movie," "Sleeping," "Away," for perfect multi-room lighting levels at the touch of a button. A wide array of action groups can be used to define lighting scenes and other one-step macro sequences.
- Supports Notification Features - Indigo can notify you via user-defined spoken announcements or e-mail (SMTP) when actions occur. This feature is ideal if you want to be notified when there's a power failure or when motion is detected in certain rooms of your home.
- Compatible With Most Smarthome INSTEON and X10 Products - Indigo communicates with INSTEON devices through the INSTEON PowerLinc Controller USB, and it communicates with X10-compatible devices via a variety of X10 interfaces, including the ActiveHome/CM-11A. Indigo even offers easy adjusting of the SwitchLinc, ToggleLinc and KeypadLinc preferences, including default dim level, on/off ramp rate and switch transmitting state.
- Created Just for Mac OS X - Developed from the ground up specifically for use with Mac OS X, Indigo utilizes pre-emptive multi-tasking and protected memory, making for an outstanding home control operating system. When idle, Indigo uses a very small percentage of your computer's CPU cycles. This ensures that you will not have any problems running Indigo in the background while you use your computer to do other tasks.

Notable Upgrades Since Version 3.0
- Indigo Touch, a native iPhone/iPod touch client is available on the iTunes App Store. Indigo Touch allows you to control your devices, execute action groups, view variable values, and use graphical control pages directly inside the Indigo Touch application. It also uses Bonjour technology to find and store server information, including optional GoPrism.com reflector account information. If you are using a prism reflector account, it will then be able to connect from anywhere in the world with no router or dynamic dns configuration needed.
- Folders - finally, a way to organize those long lists of devices/triggers/action groups/variables. You now can create folders to hold collections. Group your devices by room and your action groups by function. Whatever you want! Just create a new folder by clicking on the + button in the new outline view, name your folder, then drag'n'drop your items to get organized. The manufacturer is still implementing folder support in other parts of the UI.
- Support for IRLinc Transmitter - INSTEON to IR Converter, which allows any INSTEON compatible device to trigger the sending of IR codes. This product can be viewed as the companion product to the IR-Linc Receiver, which allows INSTEON devices to be controlled with an IR remote control. And, with Indigo running the show, you now have a simple and inexpensive way to integrate your A/V equipment into your Home Automation system. Using an X10 doorbell? Have Indigo pause your movie so you can answer the door!
- Improved support for INSTEON Motion Sensors - many users have asked to have motion sensors be "stateful" - that is, have Indigo track when a motion sensor is on (detecting motion) or not. Well, you've got it! There are various options for how this new feature works, so check it out!
- Pro Only: Support for I/O Linc - INSTEON Low Voltage / Contact Closure Interface, an inexpensive way to add one input and one SPDT output to your home automation system. Used in conjunction with several available kits, you can easily add Garage Door sensing and control, detect water leaks, or even sense when your freezer goes on the blink! Indigo has several I/O-Linc specific options available.
- Pro Only: Remote control of Thermostat and Sprinkler without designing UI Control Pages. This is another frequently requested feature: in the past, if you wanted to control your sprinklers or thermostat from the web, you had to create a Control Page. Indigo now supports controlling these devices with a very simple-to-use Web UI. Indigo Touch also has custom UI to control these devices.
- A How-To Wiki directly accessible from within Indigo by selecting "How-To Wiki" from the "Help" menu.
