  • Compatible with the PowerLinc USB and PowerLinc V2

Essential Info

If you've been unhappy with the number of choices of Macintosh-compatible home automation software, we've got great news! The Indigo system is designed specifically for Mac home automation software, and the new version, Indigo 1.8, even supports INSTEON-compatible products. Designed for Mac OS X, Indigo sends X10 and INSTEON commands over wires that are already installed in your home. With this Mac home automation software, your computer can send even advanced commands like All Lights On/Off, Preset Dim, Extended Data, etc. Your Mac will become an intelligent home control server, offering unprecedented control of your home via manual computer or remote control operation, and timed or conditional variables. A powerline interface as well as INSTEON and X10 products are sold separately.

If you want to upgrade, get the updated version (2.0), which has some major changes. Version 2.0 has been completely redesigned as a client/server application, so you can now control and configure your home automation network from any remote computer with Internet access. Lying unobtrusively in the background of your Mac, the server application consumes minimal CPU resources. In addition to an integrated HTTP web server, Indigo 2.0 supports graphical web-based Control Pages that allow you to design controllable home interfaces quickly that update in real time with changes in the real environment. Smarthome does not accept returns on any opened software.

The release of Indigo 3.0 is a major update to previous versions of the home control and automation server for Mac OS X. Most notably, support now includes control of additional INSTEON devices, such as the Thermostat Adapter, OutletLinc, KeypadLinc Relay and the IRLinc. Additionally an INSTEON link and scene management editor has been built in so that remotely defining links and scenes can be done easily and reliably from Indigo 3.0 software.

What's Included

  • Indigo 1.8 - The Mac Home Automation Software
  • More Info

With Indigo, you can program specific action events to occur based on a variety of variables, including time. For example, you can program any lights to turn on and off at specific times, or at sunset. You can also include an optional time randomizing feature for an at-home look, even if you're across the country. With this innovative Mac home automation software, you can even create delayed actions (i.e. turn off lights after 10 minutes of no motion being detected).

NOTE: Indigo will work correctly in conjunction with the Daylight Saving Time change. However, they may depend on the associated computer's operating system being updated.
    Multiple Conditional Triggers
You can also use conditional triggers, such as incorporating motion detectors to turn on lights or other devices as you walk into the room. It can also respond to events based on incoming e-mails (programmed by e-mail subject lines or sender address). This feature allows you to remotely control any appliance or light, even your hot tub, by sending Indigo an e-mail or by using a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone and Salling Clicker.

    Support Scenes
Indigo also allows you to create different lighting scenes, like "Party," "Movie," "Sleeping," "Away," for perfect multi-room lighting levels at the touch of a button. A wide array of action groups can be used to define lighting scenes and other one-step macro sequences.

    Supports Notification Features
Indigo can also notify you via user-defined spoken announcements or e-mail (SMTP) when actions occur. This feature is ideal if you want to be notified when there's a power failure or when motion is detected in certain rooms of your home.

Compatible With Most Smarthome INSTEON and X10 Products
Indigo communicates with INSTEON devices through the INSTEON PowerLinc Controller USB*, and it communicates with X10-compatible devices via a variety of X10 interfaces, including the ActiveHome/CM-11A. Indigo even offers easy adjusting of the SwitchLinc, ToggleLinc and KeypadLinc preferences, including default dim level, on/off ramp rate and switch transmitting state.

Created Just for Mac OS X
Developed from the ground up specifically for use with Mac OS X, Indigo utilizes pre-emptive multi-tasking and protected memory, making for an outstanding home control operating system. When idle, Indigo uses a very small percentage of your computer's CPU cycles. This ensures that you will not have any problems running Indigo in the background while you use your computer to do other tasks.

    Other features include:
    • Graphical progress bar shows the status of commands being sent to and from the X10 interface
    • Device list view allows manual control of all devices
    • Native variable list to easily keep track of automation states, such as "home" or "away"
    • Easy to read log files of all activity on the powerline
    • Script menu for quick access and editing of all scripts
    • Automatic deleting of old log files
    • Modern threaded architecture minimizes CPU usage and prevents UI from becoming blocked (no busy cursor!), even when sending long dim or brighten commands
    • Extensive AppleScript dictionary, including object model and plug-in architecture
    • Define embedded or externally-linked AppleScript actions

Note: Requires Macintosh OS X 10.2.6 or higher and the computer must remain on and running the Indigo program for all functions to operate. For computer-less operations, Indigo can download basic functions like timers and macros to the PowerLinc Controller USB Interface.

    * At this time Indigo 1.8 does NOT upload logic to the INSTEON PowerLinc Controller USB for offline operation. While Indigo 1.8 will upload to the PowerLinc Controller USB Interface, it is not able to upload to the INSTEON PowerLinc Controller V2 USB at this time.

Updates to the software from the previous version include the following:
    • Added support for INSTEON
    • Added basic support for INSTEON PowerLinc Controller USB
    • Added support for Marmitek modules: AW12, AWM2, AW10, LW12, LWM1,
      LW11, SW10
    • Added progress bar UI feedback to show USB level communication
    • Added horizontal scroll bar and text coloring to Event Log window
    • Changed Trigger Action, Time/Date Action, and Action Group event logging to display sequentially in log
    • Fixed bug that caused Actions with a delay of 0 minutes never to execute
    • Fixed bug that prevented closing the preferences dialog when using the CM15 in some cases
    • Fixed bug that caused incorrect execution of newly created Time/Date or Trigger Actions in some cases when the Execute Action Group button is pressed
    • Fixed bug that caused some AppleScripts to fail to execute from within an Action Group
    • Fixed incompatibility with some CM15s (firmware version 2 or above) that causes some RF commands not to decode correctly

"Software is OLD, I didn't relize that there is a new version and I don't see upgrade pricing. Software takes forever to load, doesn't look Mac-Like, and is slow" - DALE - CALGARY, XX
