    Good! Tks
    Jakob -- Stockholm   2/2/2014
Perhaps this product is your rocket to outer space, but it impossible to tell because of the clunky user interface that seems to be some kind of pre-alpha version. There's no built in functionality for the most basic needs like events, so you need to download plugins that are very hard to understand or just not working for unknown reasons. And my god, the plugins are often even more clunky! The Vera UI is like a hack from 1995. Before I bought my Vera, I did read the reviews that it is a product for the tech savvy. However, I couldn't never imagine that a product could have such an ugly and hard to understand user interface.
CRAIG -- fort worth, TX   1/30/2014
Everything works as advertised. The user interface could be more intuitive. Once you figure it out (watch enough YouTube about it), it makes sense.
    JEFF -- springboro, OH   1/20/2014
works great so far, looking to expand system, would like more verified options for compatible thermostats
Dan McGraw -- United States   1/9/2014
If you have a primarily Insteon network, I strongly recommend that you research the was the Vera works with Insteon. It is sort of a half implementation. Yes you can add Insteon devices once you buy and install a separate PLM, but the Vera only supports 1-way communication, so when you view your devices, they are never shown to be set as they are in reality. Also, Vera based scenes on Insteon devices update one light at a time, which feels like a throw-back to the days of X10. You will quickly find that most people using this thing with Insteon are using an alternate operating system called Altsteon which requires some moderately deep computing skills to install and use, and even then does not currently work with all your Insteon devices, or X10 for that matter. This thing seems to be primarily a Z-Wave-centric controller, that can also control a few Insteon lights if you have them laying around. DO NOT expect to drop this onto a pure Insteon network and be happy with the result.
    GARY -- chatsworth, CA   12/24/2013
These two devices are linked together in the setup I created. The devices work very well together. The instructions/manual that came with the setup well, they sucked! Fortunately I have enough background in software engineering I was able to make the system work the way that I wanted to. The devices were fine and I guess I could be considered a "happy camper".
    Squarepant -- Washington DC   12/3/2013
User interface is clunky, not working from touch devices/Tablets. Forget to configure devices with the walk-up mode, do it when Vera is on the network. The buttons are ridiculously small and the LEDs has no proper labeling and they are blinking out of control. Once you are beyond these hassles it works - but come on, a pretty face sells and and ugly one sends it back with an RMA.
    MIRNA -- atlanta, GA   8/19/2013
Works well and it is easy to install. Recommend to go to YouTube and watch the videos on how to connect devices to it. The instructions are not very clear, but the videos are great!
MALACHY -- falls church, VA   8/12/2013
I'd give it a minus star if there was one. Looks good but doesn't work. I am relatively tech savvy but whoever designed the web site (needed to get it to work) certainly was the low bidder. It is almost impossible to figure out or navigate through. I called their tech support line and all I got was a recording saying leave a message for a call back. That was two days ago and I was leaving town for a month & needed to network it to my door lock. I am returning the item and will get another type of bridge network to operate my Schlage locks.
    dman229 -- virginia   8/8/2013
This sounds like a neat product. But anyone here with Insteon experiences with this controller ?
CLAUDIO -- sao paulo, XX   4/1/2013
    JAMES -- odessa, TX   3/21/2013
Love it love it!! Can't wait to get more products to control. Works great with my Trane Thermostat and any Nexia equipment from Home Depot or Lowes.
SLOGeo -- san luis obispo, CA   2/21/2013
I personally enjoy working on this Z-wave project but when I Buy the Farm that will be the end of it at our house as mere mortals will not be able to figure this out... It's an entire learn by doing project for folks that enjoy it. You'd think that doing a Schedule could at least be simple... not! It's good for scheduling days and time of events but whether or not the device was to be turned ON or OFF should be right there too... but Nooo you pretty much need to trial and error figure that out. We need a book Vera for the Complete Idiot. Last night I installed a Evolve switch/transmitter, I have it paired and up and running but it looks like it will now be trial and error to figure out to set it up to operate a recirculation pump at the Z-wave receptacle in the garage. For sooo much Veralite information online you'd think it would be easier to do the basics... I'm a mechanical engineer to boot which probably causes me distress over the instructions, or lack thereof. I do not know one person that I could recommend this to that I thought would be able to set this up. George Schlage Touchscreen Deadbolt; Outdoor receptacle fountain; Indoor receptacle pump; Evolve transmitter intended for shower hot water recirculation pump All this is intended to be helpful to the project of Z-wave from my point of view at least. g
KEN -- san jose, CA   1/20/2013
Could be more user friendly. Quite technically challenging especially with the setup via the internet (instructions are not thorough and comprehensive)
kieule -- san jose, California   1/15/2013
It does require patience and it is technically challenging. Definitely not a plug-and-play device. Works as advertised. Though, instructions are not quite as advertised. For example, when setting the Vera up for enrolling a device, the instructions says that the ready light should be solid and not blinking. However, for my case, the Vera went straight into inclusion mode light blinking slowly - i never saw a solid ready light. When this happen, you can't include any device eventhough it is in inclusion mode. I had to get out of inclusion mode by going into exclusion mode. Then back into inclusion mode. Then the inclusion mode works for me and I was able to enroll devices.
    ZIAD -- springfield, NJ   1/13/2013
It does it's job and for the price, it is a good value. However, the interface is very clunky and not smooth. It is not very intuitive and some functions fail to work which require intervention by the manufacturer - on customer support, they are very helpful.
    Mike -- duluth, GA   1/8/2013
Before getting Vera Lite, I picked up the Schlage Nexia system to work with a deadbolt and a Trane Thermostat. It performed fine and I'd recommend that for someone who doesn't want to tinker and has few requirements. The number of compatible devices for Nexia quickly became annoying especially not working with my pre-existing IP cameras and I didn't really like paying the monthly access get to my own server. I've been very happy with the Vera Lite buy this one instead of Vera3 if you already have a wireless network, the setup was a little trickier than Nexia, but the forums on answered every problem that I had. I had a problem with one node in particular, but the Repair button did as advertised. Definitely worth buying the Square Connect iPhone app to go with this to make some very slick interfaces very easily.
    EMILIO -- wakefield, MA   1/7/2013
The hardware itself is excellent. The software is extremely configurable / scriptable but needs some polishing. The web interface is not consistent and cluttered. A decent mobile interface requires third party applications. However; this solution requires no monthly fees and the upfront price is an excellent value for what we get. If you're technically inclined, and have some basic software development skills; this unit is for you. Overall I'm very happy with it so far. I'm able to control a Kwickset ZWave lock and Z-Wave plugs
    Germ -- South Carolina   9/6/2012
First time using one of these. This one works quite well. I does everything they say it will.
    JOE -- winchester, VA   7/27/2012
Excellent! Makes home automation MAGIC easy. I thought the videos had to be over-promising, but it really delivered.
