The Superna ControlBox™ is a networking device that allows quick and easy installation of a home automation solution in any environment. Simply plug in an interface module or system controller to the ControlBox via serial or USB connection, connect it to your wired or Wi-Fi network and you are ready to go. No other infrastructure is needed! The Superna ControlBox offers you more than home control and automation - use it to experience whole-house digital audio and video distribution. Stream your digital media files from any computer or Media Center PC on the home network to any ControlBox.

Superna standards-based software and hardware make home automation a simple reality by allowing you to use one or several communication protocols together to control your home. INSTEON, Z-Wave and other protocols can work seamlessly together. The automated home can now be a reality.

Home Control and Automation

The ControlBox provides serial and USB connectors for all common types of interface modules for controlling household devices, appliances or systems. The Superna ControlBox is capable of interfacing with INSTEON, Z-Wave, UPB, Vizia-RF, CentraLite, Global Caché and Nuvo systems. Two-way INSTEON communications can be accomplished by connecting a PLM via the USB jack on the reverse of the ControlBox. Z-Wave control can be established using a Z-Wave Adapter. Connecting a UPB interface module to the serial port of the ControlBox via the UPB serial connectivity cable provides two-way UPB communication. Because the ControlBox II can communicate with several different interfaces, it is possible to send commands to several proprietary control devices with just this one controller. Scenes can now be created that will turn on a lamp to 50 percent via INSTEON, set the ceiling fan to 20 percent speed via UPB, draw the blinds via Vizia RF and turn on the radio to your favorite station with a Global Caché IR command.

Whole-House Digital Media Distribution

The Superna ControllBox II supports audio and video streaming of major formats from any PC on the home network. Now you can easily watch a movie in the livingroom stored on the computer in the den or listen to audio files in the kitchen that are streaming from a PC in bedroom several rooms away. Simultaneous HD quality streams over the regular home network are possible thanks to the high speed processing of the Superna system. Supported video formats include: MPEG-2, MPEG-4, AVI, WMV, DIVX Supported audio formats include: WMA, MP3, WAV, MPEG-4 AAC (Low Complexity, 5.1 Channels), AVI. Photos can even be viewed in JPEG, GIF, or PNG formats. Easily watch, manage and view audio files, video files and images from any wi-fi connected pc or device in your home. You can even create customizable mixed-media playlists.

Setup, Installation and User Interface

All that's required to set up a home automation network is a wired or wireless network. Connecting the ControlBox II to your LAN is the only infrastructure necessary - no special wiring is needed. You can fully leverage your standard IP home network to connect legacy electronic devices to your home computer network for control of lighting, HVAC, home control and delivery of digital audio/video content to any room in the house. This network topology obviates the need to either remodel or rewire the entire household at the time of installation.

Universal Plug-n-Play Connectivity

The ControlBox II converts any connected device into a UPnP™-compatible device. The UPnP protocol is an industry standard designed to enable simple and robust connectivity among standalone devices and PCs from many different vendors. A variety of devices are now available that can communicate with the ControlBox II using the UPnP standard including gateways, media servers, print devices, security consoles, and digital security cameras.

Linux Operating System & Solid State Design

Utilizing Linux as its operating system means that the ControlBox II is built upon a reliable platform that is totally void of viruses. Not only is the box impervious to viruses, the solid state design means that there aren't any moving parts (except the cooling fan) that can break down or fail over time.

Superna Configuration Software

Use ConfigNet desktop software to configure and manage your Digital Home easily and to personalize your user interfaces. Using Superna software products, you can control and operate your ControlBox from various interface devices you already have such as PCs, UMPCs, PDAs, TVs, or Touch Panels.
