Essential Info
The ElkGuard Wireless GSM Security System is a fully self-contained unit. It features an on-board motion sensor, loud siren, and is a wireless receiver for up to 23 remote sensors and keyfobs. The design of the ElkGuard makes it ideal for mounting in the corner of a room or to any flat surface, and has no wires to run. A pre-installed rechargeable battery is capable of operating for up to three months between charges, which means less maintenance. An AC power adapter is included which can be used to charge the battery and/or be used as a continuous power supply in lieu of the battery. Another outstanding feature is the Cellular GSM radio, which allows ElkGuard to communicate with a central monitoring station wirelessly. This makes it totally independent of landline phones and affords ElkGuard with unprecedented ease of installation and portability. You can even access and control your system remotely. A six character alphanumeric display and voice commands make programming the system and tracking status and events a breeze. This expandable unit is ideal for adding wireless security where a hardwired system is not possible or where a cellular GSM callout can provide added peace of mind in the event of an emergency. This product is also available without Cellular GSM technology. Important Note: The ElkGuard Wireless GSM Security System requires professional installation. GSM transmission will not be activated through ElkGuard unless installed by a recognized installer for Alarm.com. If you are not currently recognized by Alarm.com, a contract with Alarm.com must be submitted and approved by Alarm.com before any units can be activated.

User Modes
ElkGuard has four different modes, DISARMED, ARMED, STAY, and STAY2. This allows the user to set different levels of security when they are home or away. It is very easy to scroll through the available armed modes by pressing Arm/Lock key on the keyfob multiple times. To disarm simply press the Disarm/Unlock key on the keyfob.
Built-in Motion Detector
The ElkGuard features a PIR motion sensor integrated into the main unit. This sensor is permanently allocated as SENSOR 1. Depending on the ElkGuard operating mode and the programming attributes, the PIR on the main unit can be locked out (or excluded from the system). NOTE: When "Locked Out" the Main PIR is incapable of sensing or reacting to movement.
Wireless Keys
Wireless Keys are considered any type of wireless device that the user operates by a button. There are several different types of keys modules: a user Keyfob, medical transmitter Pendant, Panic Transmitter and a doorbell.
Intruder Alarms
Activation of the intruder alarm will cause the internal siren to sound for the programmed time. An optional external speaker may also be wired to ElkGuard for additional sound. Also, an optional strobe light may be wired to ElkGuard for visual indication of events. The strobe light can flash for 1 hour if the unit is powered only by the battery or for 12 hours if the unit is connected to the AC transformer power.
Panic/Duress Operation
Audible Panic alarms (including siren and optional strobe light) may be activated by pressing the special panic button on the 3 or 4 button keyfobs if they have been programmed as "KEY." Audible Panic alarms may also be activated by pressing the single button on the emergency transmitter, provided the emergency transmitter is programmed as "KEY." A silent Duress alarm (without any siren or strobe activation) can be activated by pressing the special panic button on the 3 or 4 button keyfobs if they have been programmed as "DURESS." The system will also be armed or disarmed at the same time. A silent Duress alarm may also be activated by pressing the single button on the emergency transmitter, provide the emergency transmitter has been programmed as "DURESS." Silent Duress means that the system will arm or disarm while a silent Duress alarm is being sent to the central station.
Nonvolatile Memory
ElkGuard uses EEPROM memory, which is designed to be retained in the event the unit is turned off or resets due to abnormal conditions. Data stored in nonvolatile memory includes all programmed devices and options associated with the device (keys and detectors).

Please Note: The ElkGuard main unit requires access to a nearby GSM transmission tower. It cannot function without adequate signal strength. Some buildings or locations may not be conducive to GSM coverage and the ElkGuard will need to be moved to obtain the best possible signal strength.
