But that's no longer a problem with the Universal Structured Wiring Box, the only box that allows you to keep all your components under one roof.
Compatible With the Most Popular Brands
The Universal Structured Wiring Box works with Leviton Structured Media, OnQ and ChannelPlus Open House systems, one format at a time. To mix and match equipment from these systems, simply add optional Universal Mounting Rails (#1288R) as needed. Each set includes two punched rails for mounting of telephone, CATV and computer network modules.
Works for Equipment From Any Manufacturer
If you need to house a component from a vendor other than those mentioned above, you'll also need the optional Multipurpose Adapter Plate (#1288P). This adapter plate essentially gives you the freedom of buying components like ethernet hubs and cable modems from any manufacturer, rather than being limited to buy one from one specific vendor.
Supports Alarm System Circuit Boards
To mount circuit boards from alarm systems or other home automation products, use the optional Circuit Board Glides (#1288G manufacturer part#SWG). These glides not only allow boards without enclosures to slide in, they also provide support.
Fits Between Standard 16" Wall Studs
Universal Structured Wiring Boxes are constructed of heavy-duty, 19-gauge metal, and easily mount between standard 16" wall studs (allows for 0.5" wall finish plus door mounting flange).
Two models to choose from:
28" Universal Structured Wiring Box (#128828) — This model is generously sized at 14.25" (W) x 28" (H) x 4.5" (D). Additional key features include: seven large-capacity 2.5" wire entry holes, a knockout for a standard 2-outlet J box to provide AC power, and a lockable cover.
14" Universal Structured Wiring Box (#128814) — This is ideal for smaller jobs such as small homes, apartments, condos, etc. Key features: combination knockouts for size 1/2", 3/4", and 1-1/4" conduit, knockout for standard AC power J box, and heavy duty lockable cover with camlock. Overall box dimensions: 14.25” W x 14.25” H x 3.5” D, constructed with 19 gauge metal.
Plastic Project Box (#5500 manufacturer part#PB1) — Perfect way to complete a totally clean installation. This white, general purpose, paintable box is ideal for housing wire splices, relay modules, etc. Mounts to a single gang electrical box. Features 6 removable wire entry slide tabs which are compatible with surface raceway conduit. Mounting hardware included. Overall box dimensions: 6.5" W x 4.3" H x 2" D.
