Essential Info
Don't bother with a panel that focuses exclusively on automation or security. The M1EZ8 is an economical, expandable starter kit that features a rock-solid security foundation with powerful automation functionality for the best of both worlds. This is an ideal solution for installations not requiring the voice and telephone remote control capability of the M1 Gold. Whether you're an integrator or an installer, you'll appreciate the flash memory firmware, fast PC programming, and ease of installation, as well as the optional RS-232 serial port and Ethernet connectivity. The M1EZ8 Kit offers the flexibility to integrate industry standard systems and components for easy upgrades and system expansion from the eight on-board zones to up to 200. Due to excessive weight, Smarthome will add a heavy-item shipping charge to this item. This charge will be reflected in the shipping amount on the check-out page.

Plug-in terminal blocks make service and pre-wiring a snap. The M1EZ8 Kit has a wireless capacity of up to 48 zones, just add a M1 Cable to NX Wireless harness, a five-pin cable required for connecting your wireless receiver to the M1EZ8 Kit.
The M1EZ8 Kit offers ample security features. You'll gain peace of mind, knowing your 2-wire or 4-wire smoke detectors and alarm system (both sold separately) are fully supported, along with a time/date-stamped 512-event history log. Partition your monitored area into eight separate areas with separate account numbers; program up to 99 4- to 6-digit user codes with assignable authority levels, so you'll be sure your home or office is being monitored wisely.
More than just a security system, the M1EZ8 Kit can be used to create lifestyle-enhancing comfort and convenience through your home automation system. By connecting the M1EZ8 to your computer using the system's Ethernet connection or RS-232 serial port (latter requires a Main Serial Interface Port, sold separately), you'll be able to control and check in remotely, transmitting and receiving custom serial ASCII messages remotely via dial-up or Ethernet connection. Use the Elk Remote Management Software for easy setup and control of your entire M1EZ8 system. Read temperature sensors and communicate with every connected thermostat in the house over the Internet, and control your lighting and other automation using computer commands: You'll be able to turn on tasks, lights and other connected automation devices, even setting lights to turn on automatically at sunset. There's no need to chain rules together; the programming system allows almost any imaginable operation using easy-to-understand text-based references. The M1EZ8 Kit uses a true V.22 bis modem for fast, reliable information uploading and downloading.
Programming the M1EZ8 is simple using the included LCD keypad. This device is a menu-driven, full-text keypad that requires no manual. While the M1EZ8 Kit is expandable to support up to 16 LCD keypads, the system's included keypad features a backlit, large-character LCD of 16 x 2 lines, which displays the system's diagnostics and settings. Between its menu navigation keys and its six programmable function keys, programming the display of time, date and temperature is made easy, especially with the aid of a built-in temperature sensor. On each keypad, one zone input and one output are programmable. The LCD keypad also displays system diagnostics and settings. Additional keypads are available to be purchased separately. A slim-line keypad is also available for use in spaces where you won't need the full functionality of the LCD keypad.
Add up to twelve 16 hardwired zones to your M1EZ8 Kit with the M1 16 Zone Input Expander. Additional units that can be purchased separately include the M1 Databus Hub and the M1 Relay Board.
By installing a Two-Way Listen-In Kit (sold separately) in your M1EZ8, your alarm company's central station will have instant two-way listen-in capabilities for added security.
