Essential Info
If you have dedicated Internet access (i.e. cable modem or DSL) and you want to control and monitor your home while you're away, HomeSeer's built-in Web server brings you full control of all of your INSTEON devices through a password-protected Web page or by e-mail. Using this kit's PowerLinc interface, you'll be able to send commands from your home or remote computer through your home's powerlines to any INSTEON lamp and appliance modules, programmable wall switches and infrared audio/video devices through such IR interfaces as the SmartLabs Design PC/IR Linc and JDS IR Xpander infrared controller. HomeSeer also features powerful event mechanisms, enabling you to create events triggered by absolute time, sunrise/sunset (with offset) and matched infrared commands. Triggers can also be set with conditions. Smarthome does not accept returns on any opened software.

More Info

Control your INSTEON-compatible lighting devices with your HomeSeer v2.0 software by installing a plug-in that's free of charge to all registered HomeSeer v2.0 users. The new basic plug-in supports all on-off-dim functions. To install, simply run HomeSeer v2.0 and download from the HomeSeer updater. The plug-in includes Smarthome's SDM configuration software.
Note: Your PC will need to remain on in order to execute timed commands and triggered events. This software does not download to the PowerLinc V2 Controller at this time.
Note: HomeSeer will work correctly in conjunction with the Daylight Saving Time change. However, they may depend on the associated computer's operating system being updated.
The INSTEON (patent pending) PowerLinc Controller is a stand-alone home automation interface for controlling lights, appliances, heating/air conditioning systems and alarm systems that uses a computer's Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection for communicating timer and event macros. The PowerLinc Controller includes SmartLabs Designs' innovative pass-through AC outlet on the front of the unit, which allows you to plug in additional AC devices.
Security systems can communicate with HomeSeer through a serial port to notify HomeSeer about any event that occurs in the system, including sensor status change and alarm events. You can then trigger events based on those responses. Compatible security systems Include:
- The HAI Omni Series. (Additional Plug-in (Item 12663) required and sold separately.)
- The ELK M1 Series. (Third-party plug-in required and sold separately.)
- The Napco Gemini 3200 & Gemini 9600 systems. (Additional plug-in required and sold separately.)
- The Caddx NX8 System. (Third-party plug-in required and sold separately.)
- The GE Interlogix System. (Third-party plug-in required and sold separately.)
- The OnQ HMS Series. (Third-party plug-in required and sold separately.)
For temperature control, HomeSeer supports HVAC devices through the use of scripts. Compatible Units include:
Download the Smarthome Manager Essential Timer Software.exe, Smarthome Manager Essential Timer Software.zip and Timer Manual free of charge. For Mac users, Indigo 1.8 (sold separately) is now INSTEON compatible and available for purchase to use with the PowerLinc USB.
The PowerLinc Controller is safety tested and approved. The assembly lines for Smarthome Design Products are ISO9001 certified. In order to meet the ISO 9001 standards, the entire factory underwent rigorous inspections of procedures and policies before being thoroughly audited. The certification received was based on its dedication to high quality management systems and strict adherence of quality systems and guidelines.
Note: It is advised that you unplug your PowerLinc when playing games that use Microsoft's DirectX system while using USB input devices, such as joysticks.
