And you won't have to with the KeypadLinc 8 - X10 Compatible Transmitter, an in-wall controller that controls individual lights, or triggers whole-house mood lighting "scenes" with the touch of a button. The X10 compatible transmitter communicates with all X10-compatible receivers over the wiring that's already in your home, so there's no need to retrofit the wiring. The KeypadLinc 8 - X10 Compatible Transmitter makes your home life easier. It communicates with all X10 receivers without need for retrofitting your existing wiring. The X10 compatible transmitter lets you creates "scenes," such as "Party," to suit your mood. Its programmable "toggle" ability adds up to four more push-button options, such as dimming and easy ON/OFF. The illuminating ON buttons on the KeypadLinc 8 lets you monitor lights in other rooms.
Multiple Control Options
The professional-quality KeypadLinc 8 - X10 Compatible Transmitter communicates with all X10-compatible receivers, such as SwitchLincs, LampLincs, computer-based controllers, and more. And, they do it all over wiring that's already installed in your home. No retrofit wiring is required. Once the components are in place, simply press one button on the X10 compatible transmitter, and all of the lights programmed to respond will create a lighting scene that you design. Give each scene a name (e.g., "Movie Time," "Dinnertime," or "Party"), and you can recall that scene in an instant! You can also use the KeypadLinc 8 to send commands to your audio and video components when teamed up with our IRLinc X10 to IR Controller. These features are helpful for anyone that entertains guests.
Flexible Setup
Unlike many keypads, the KeypadLinc 8 - X10 Compatible Transmitter gives you tremendous flexibility in setup. First, the buttons don't need to occupy sequential addresses. And, unlike other wall-mounted keypads that only provide on/off control, each button on the KeypadLinc 8 can perform up to four different functions—thanks to a programmable "toggle" ability. Press once for ON, then press again for OFF. Press and hold to brighten, press and hold again to dim. If you prefer, turn off the toggle feature to send the same command every time. In the non-toggle mode you can even decide whether you wish it to send an address, a command, or both (e.g., A6, AON, or A6AON) Best of all, the settings are all electronically set (no code wheels!) and held in nonvolatile EEPROM memory. The KeypadLinc 8 - X10 Compatible Transmitter wires in like a standard wall switch with the exception that a neutral wire is required. Setup is quick and easy.
Monitor Other Devices
Because the buttons illuminate when ON signals are pressed (or when signals are detected from other sources on the power line), the X10 compatible transmitter also allows you to monitor lights in other rooms. This feature is incredibly useful if you want to control lights that aren't easily seen from the KeypadLinc 8 location, like those in basements, garages, and attics.
Preprinted and Custom Labels
At Smarthome we believe that every keypad needs to be labeled to make controlling your lights easy. Labeling the KeypadLinc 8 - X10 Compatible Transmitter is simple since several pages of preprinted graphical and text labels are included with every unit. You can also download a Word document template and create your own custom labels (e.g., Scott's Lamp); you can also order a set of 8 custom laser-etched small keypad buttons for maximum personalization. Simply pop the button cap off the transmitter, replace the label, and pop it back on.
Nightlight Locator and Status Light
A small, subtle LED at the top of KeypadLinc 8 - X10 Compatible Transmitter makes it easy to find in a dark room. The nightlight LED also doubles as a status light by blinking when there is X10 traffic in the home. This feature makes installation and troubleshooting much easier.
Fully X10 Compatible
The KeypadLinc 8 - X10 Compatible Transmitter can be controlled from any X10 transmitter. For example, add an X10 Wireless Remote, and you’ll be able to adjust the light levels from the comfort of your sofa. Add an X10 Keychain Remote, and you’ll be able to turn on indoor lights from the safety of your car! Unlike many "higher-end" power line switches, the X10 compatible transmitter responds to all standard X10 commands. There is no need to replace your transmitters to control them.
Be Sure to Have a ControLinc Maxi to Set Up the KeypadLinc 8
 Many of the advanced features of the KeypadLinc 8 are remotely set using a ControLinc Maxi or an equivalent transmitter capable of sending House Code and Unit Codes without ON or OFF. This plug-in transmitter has the ability to send individual X10 commands. The buttons are separated into Addresses and Command functions. To use this controller, you have to press the address (e.g., "5"), then the command (e.g., ON, OFF, BRIGHT). Nearly all features of the KeypadLinc 8 need to be programmed with individual button-presses. Transmitters in which one button is pressed to turn on or off a load will not work.

The KeypadLinc 8 - X10 Compatible Transmitter now ships with white and ivory trim pieces that match our white and ivory Decora-style Trim Plates (sold separately).

All KeypadLinc products are safety approved. The assembly line for Smarthome Design products is ISO9002 certified.
