Essential Info
The easiest way to develop your own software and/or hardware for use with X10 compatible devices! PowerLinc can send and receive X10 including advanced extended codes using simple ASCII communication as well as the original TW523 protocol (Note: the TW523 cannot receive extended X10 codes). Any PC or microprocessor that can communicate using ASCII over RS-232 can send and receive X10 using the PowerLinc.
Furthermore, PowerLinc conveniently provides 300mA 12VDC power if your application requires it (if you don't need power, simply omit the connection).
Please note that we have heard from Ocelot owners that PowerLinc is not compatible with Ocelots and the Leopard II Touchscreen. This is due to pinout differences between the PowerLinc and the TW523 modules. To resolve this problem, replace the cable packaged with the PowerLinc with a standard crossover 4 conductor RJ-11 telephone cable (make sure there are 4 conductors- many standard RJ11 phone cables contain only 2 conductors). #1155B (manufacturer part#TE-074), available below, has been tested and verified as compatible with the Ocelot/Leopard and PowerLinc.
Due to the nature of this product, Smarthome cannot offer programming support. We cannot assist in the troubleshooting or development of applications and/or code for this product.

More Info

The PowerLinc, which comes with a 6-ft. cord and an RJ-11 connector, can be directly substituted in virtually any application that uses the PSC05/TW523 2-way Interface Module. Just unplug the TW523 interface module and swap it with the PowerLinc!
The PowerLinc has been tested as a direct TW523 X10 interface AND power supply replacement for the HouseLinc, TouchLinc controllers or RCS X10 thermostats, including the #3049B X10 Bi-Directional HVAC System.
For the JDS TimeCommander (Plus), JDS Stargate and HomeVision, PowerLinc directly replaces the TW523 interface module, but modification to the cable may be required if you want to replace the existing power supply with power from the PowerLinc. Current applications include:
- Creating a custom control panel to send any X10 command from your PC and to view X10 activity
- Client/server application to control/monitor X10 devices over the Internet (TCP/IP)
- Programming of SwitchLinc, KeypadLinc, LampLinc, and ToggleLinc wall switches from your PC.
Imagine developing your own custom application to control your home over the Internet! Install the "server" application on your home PC and the control application on the remote PC. As long as there is a TCP/IP connection between the two, you can control and monitor X10 devices from the remote PC! This includes the ability to use full 2-way status request confirmed commands. With the available source code, you can get started fast.
